Mylar blanket and a clear sheet of polyethylene thays twice the size and you have 5 different shealter options

I'm a huge advocate for these blankets. Every bag, pouch, kit etc has these in them.

They are rather fragile...unless they're tucked between layers of moss, dirt, leaves, etc atop a debris hut to truly waterproof the roof, in which case they're invaluable.

You ever watch NW Primate's videos? He lives in the Pacific Northwest and is the master of temperate rainforest bow drill fires. He has a video where he takes one of those same mylar blankets, cuts long pieces off, and makes cordage that he then runs a bow drill with and makes fire. It's definitely worth a watch and helps get the wheels turning on how useful such things can be if you can think outside the box.

What about adding a small roll of packaging tape to increase the size of the improvised shelter and patch holes rips and tears
