It’s not that the driver wasn’t paying attention a big truck like that can’t just stop. Momentum and mass make the stopping distance longer. At fault is the dog that was in the middle of the street and the people who stopped suddenly for it. I’m glad the dog is OK but stopping sudden r for an animal can be very dangerous and people have died because of the crashes that result from it.

Garbage trucks are like cement trucks: they can NOT stop quickly nor in a short distance when fully loaded!!! The garbage truck driver should have left more distance between his garbage truck and the vehicles in front of him. It was not a deliberate malicious act, but it was still the garbage truck driver's fault anyway.

That Tacoma did what it was supposed to do in that kind of situation. It’s designed to absorb as much of the impact as possible. That impact into the Tesla is minimal but that Tacoma is totaled.

That truck fully loaded isnt going to stop on a dime. He clearly tried to swerve. Had he actually not been paying attention it would have ended much worse.

I don't even think the guy had enough to brake. It's not the garbage truck driver's fault if everyone slams on their brakes. The "he should have gone slower" thing doesn't make any sense either. How was he supposed to know that everyone in front of him would slam on their brakes all of a sudden?

No it's not the fault of dump truck driver my uncle is a trucker he explained me that truck r way more heavy they can't b stoped immediately even after hard brack as coz of momentum so he told me to carefully when a truck is right behind me

Demand a drug test from the driver, caught my garbage man last week broke a bottle so I confronted them and the driver reeked of we³d. I called and reported him cause kids ride their bikes to school in my neighborhood.
