Stripers LOVE this Rainbow Trout Pattern! | Fly Fishing SC

Just two weeks after landing my first striper on the fly, my yearning for another was too great to ignore. All it took was one fish. Striper now have a tight grip on my fishing ambitions, narrowing my view each time I embark on a new fishing mission. It's time to scratch that itch. In this video I'm searching for more rushes of dopamine as I sling around big streamers for striped bass. Enjoy!

Absolutely stoked to see a fellow fly fishing channel here in Columbia SC! Absolutely killed it on the lower saluda this year for trout (landed my first 22" brown about three miles up from where your standing now but haven't caught a stripper yet!

Found your channel while scrolling & awesome, the river looks awesome & your enthusiasm is contagious, 1 remediation is check out a sink tip line or a Skagit Head for your 7 weight, I have 1 & with multiple tips can easily adapt to changing water conditions, tight lines 🤙🇺🇸

A few years ago I warned you that fly fishing is more addictive than crack cocaine...but ya went and did it any way! I live up the road in the Greenville area and have fished that area a few times. Stripers are like tarpon, peacock bass, and smallies...they are life changing species of fish. Love your videos bro! BTW, the background of my avatar is about 25 miles upstream on the "other" river.

Good stuff, but I would recommend 1) Sinking line and 2) bumping up to a 8 or 9wt. 7wt is fun on those little schoolies but you will hook a 30-35" fish one day and be really sad with the result(especially in that strech). I fish that same river probably 100 days a year and can speak from experience! My best is a 42" and numberous between 30-35". Congrats on the new addiction and good luck!

Nice videos, good to see you fishing river areas I am familiar with! I got hooked on the pull from the stripes a while back, while I still love smallies the stripes are just built different. There are a lot of really good size stripers in the confluence and the zoo areas, I have caught a few in the 30-35” range the last couple of years but still chasing a 40”

Do you have any fly tying video's for the rainbow streamer used in this video? Not the articulated one.

How does the axiom 2x turn over big flies? Looks like it shoots like crazy

*Nice action* dude. I just got a fly rod and have a friend that's going to teach me how to cast. Can't wait to broaden my angling abilities.
