As an Italian I wanted to clarify that the tomato was an ad on.
Real Italian cuisin uses a lot of different veggies and cured meats. Tomato fits well in it and grows wonderfully in Italian climate. So much so that (my mother is Colombian, father Italian 😊 ) I ate the best tomatoes in south Italy, not Colombia, as insane as it is, it was almost meant to arrive on the pizza

To clarify about tomato’s and pasta, Pasta came from Italy. They made it with cheese or egg as a base. Pasta has been around for a long long time.

However, pizza as the world knows it today is rightfully from the US, created by Pizza Hut. Nobody ever knows that Pizza Hut is what started Pizza in the US. Sure there’s pizza that is older in Italy, but it isn’t the same style or even look as what we see as pizza.

Well can't say it's what normal Italians (they wouldn't call themselves that anyway but whatever) would eat, but if you're really that curious check out Bartolomeo Scappi's Opera, definitely one of the finest works in culinary history. (Max Miller made quite a few of the dishes on his channel, might be more fun than actually looking at recipes)

Fun Fact, tomatoes are known scientifically by their Latin binomial means "Wolf Peach" as there are wild tomatoes that look similar to persimmons that are poisonous for humans to eat, but means "edible" or "fit for food", indicating that while this red shit they brought back may look dangerous to eat, it's actually quite safe, and delicious.
