Color Changing Milk - Cool Science Experiment

You can try it with any type of milk. 2% works just fine, but try experimenting with different types to see how the reaction changes.

We did this in science class (I'm an 8th grader) this year. My table's didn't work because my friend dropped some soap in there before we put the q-tip in it. Then we made pretty designs with the colors

you really want that thin layer of milk, so plates tend to work better than bowls. Other than, maybe let the milk reach room temperature before doing the experiment. I hope this helps.

@trey54980 are you claiming to have created this experiment? Steve has been doing this experiment for over 20 years... and he wasn't the one who came up with it. Also, this video is actually from 2007. We didn't get around to posting it until last year. Sorry you feel that we stole it from you.

u can try mixing a bit of water with the food colouring to make it liquid and maybe its not working because the milk ur using doesnt have enough fat in it.hope this helps
