CJ's Elephant Antics, developed by Genesis Software and published by Codemasters in 1991.

"CJ's Cartoon Caper across the world - climb the Eiffel Tower, dual the Hunchback, discover the Yeti, Pharaoh's lost tomb and Sphinx, mysterious jungle mazes, Safari wildlife, active volcanoes and more.. Incredible international action!"

Another staple game character from Codemasters. This time an elephant who's got into some trouble with a zoo keeper and just wants to get home. This is the first game in the series from Genesis Software who also made Nobby the Aardvark for Thalamous.

The game consists of four levels where you need to guide CJ around a maze and find the exit to the next area. In between will be enemies trying to stop you which have quite a high shot speed and can fire before you see them on the screen which can be frustrating. You get bombs which can be useful to hit enemies above and below you but note that you cant fire peanuts until the bomb explodes.

Ant the end of each level is a boss to fight. Defeat them and collect a map, and get on ya bike to the next level. Interestingly, the last bike level has no map and seems to allow you to collect bonus balloons forever more until you die. Each level has a fork where you can take a slightly different route. Level 3 and 4 are extra challenging in that you need find and clip through fake walls to keep on the correct route.

Overall, another signature game in Codemasters budget series of games. The game plays well and does end on high note. However there is no high score screen. Its a game that looks cartoony, simple and young player friendly but it really needs to be played with some caution as you often cant see the spikey threats below you and enemies can appear and fire at the most annoying moments.

Interesting factoid- the game code for this was originally intended for “The Newzealand Story” but was never used, a different team being selected instead. So they took the base game code and created this around it!

I love watching C64 and Amiga 500 gameplays because they have a lot of games that are different to me and I like the weirdness of it.

I played this game many times on my Amiga 500 😹😸😺👍.
I even finished it only once 😺👍🕹️.
It's like CodeMasters' tribute to
Taito's arcade classic
NEW ZEALAND STORY 😺👍🕹️.
