Magnetic spheres are not for mindless fidgeting! Except when they are. Fidgets are mindless objects that allow you to focus one something else. Rare earth magnet spheres on the other hand require focus and advanced thinking.

Warning: Using your magnets for fidgeting will wear down the coating much faster than normal. You can use neoballs, neocubes and buckyballs too, but thinner and rougher coatings will wear even faster. Make sure to never drop your magnets.

About the two extras: You can put them on either side of the axle. In the next video of the series, you see the user dismantling this very same rattle spinner but with a key feature: two extra magnet balls on either side of the axle!

Just tried this out (very catchy and direct narration)! It is indeed very hard to master. Applying enough force to break the magnetic bond between the orbiter and the axle but not enough to make it fly off is very very very difficult. The strength of Zen Magnets makes this even more difficult--I suggest using Neoballs instead. (And also, fidgeting wears down the coating faster, so it's probably best to spend not too much on fidgeting.)
