I would encourage people to read Jedi Academy, but i definitely have some issues with it. The villian arc was kimd of cartoonish. He just was so powerful so fast. And to show that they had him beat Luke. Which just throws off all power scaling at the time. And the whole ship thing was just dumb. But all and all i like Kyp in the later story so i appreciated his back story being told.

Not terrible, but pretty forgettable. I think this may be the second thing I read after the Thrawn trilogy, and it was definitely not nearly as good as the Thrawn trilogy. I think Kevin J Anderson is just not as good a writer.
