00:00 Title: “Why is Land Mobile Radio Mission Critical?”
00:05 In the summer of 2017, two devastating hurricanes hit Texas and Florida.
00:11 Rescue and recovery teams continued to communicate and operate, even in the midst of high winds, flooding and power outages.
00:18 Like millions of people around the world, they trusted their lives to Land Mobile Radio. They knew they could rely on LMR networks’ key strengths: power, resilience, and purpose-built devices - three attributes required for a network to be mission critical.
00:37 LMR devices use powerful transmitters, which give you more range. More range means the same area can be covered with fewer sites, which can be located for better coverage, easier access, or stronger security. With fewer sites, it is easier to prepare the network for a disaster, installing generators and storing fuel.
00:56 And in the midst of a disaster, fewer resources are needed to perform repairs and deliver supplies, so personnel can focus on response and rescue.
01:07 Land-Mobile Radio networks are resilient.
01:10 If a segment becomes disconnected from the network, it continues to operate, and users can still communicate.
01:16 And even if no infrastructure is available, radios can talk to each other directly, using their high-power transmitters. This is especially valuable in remote locations, or when coverage is difficult.
01:28 Like the network, the DEVICE in your hand needs to suit the conditions you work in.
01:33 Radios keep you connected even when you:
- Face environments with zero visibility
- need a battery that lasts a full 12 hours.
- or wear protective equipment or heavy gloves.
01:45 Whatever your environment, your radio is designed to let you focus on your work, knowing that help is just a button press away.
01:53 Every day, field personnel rely on Mission Critical Land-Mobile Radio to stay in touch, keeping our communities safe and thriving. With unmatched POWER, proven RESILIENCE, and purpose-built DEVICES, LMR is the core of mission critical voice networks.
02:11 As data continues to proliferate, we are extending the reach of LMR and complementing it with broadband data, so you can get the best of both technologies without compromising your most critical communications.
