Ahsoka, also known as Star Wars: Ahsoka, is an American space fantasy television series created by Dave Filoni for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise and a spin-off from The Mandalorian, taking place in the same timeframe as that series and its other interconnected spin-offs after the events of the film Return of the Jedi (1983). Ahsoka follows former Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano and her allies as they fight the remnants of the Galactic Empire during the time of the fledgling New Republic.

Rosario Dawson stars as the title character, reprising her role from The Mandalorian. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, David Tennant, Eman Esfandi, Evan Whitten, Genevieve O'Reilly, Hayden Christensen, Ariana Greenblatt, Lars Mikkelsen, and Anthony Daniels also star. Ahsoka Tano was co-created by Filoni for the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dawson was cast to bring her into live-action for the second season of The Mandalorian, and a spin-off series with Dawson reprising her role and Filoni set as showrunner was announced by Lucasfilm in December 2020. It serves as a continuation of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. In addition to Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson returned from The Mandalorian as executive producers and were joined by Carrie Beck.

Ahsoka premiered on August 22, 2023, with the first two episodes of the first season. The other six episodes were released through October 3. The season received high viewership, generally positive reviews from critics, and several accolades. In January 2024, Lucasfilm confirmed that Filoni was developing a second season.

Hera Syndulla was a Twi'lek female revolutionary leader who became a central figure in the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire and the formation of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Born the daughter of General Cham Syndulla and Eleni Syndulla on Ryloth with a brother who died young, she saw firsthand the devastation of the Clone Wars and the reign of the Empire on her homeworld. Syndulla became an expert pilot and left her homeworld and her father's planetary resistance behind, setting off across the galaxy to build her own resistance movement against the Empire aboard her starship, the Ghost. Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who survived Order 66, joined her during the Gorse Conflict and eventually became her lover and father of her son. Her crew, the Spectres, mounted an insurgency on Lothal and was eventually comprised of Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren, Lasat survivor Garazeb Orrelios, Syndulla's life-long astromech droid Chopper, and Padawan Ezra Bridger.

The small rebellion Hera led on Lothal gained the notice of Senator Bail Organa and his efforts to coordinate activities between various rebel cells across the galaxy. Hera and the Spectres joined one of these cells, Phoenix Cell, and she eventually became Phoenix Leader. With Phoenix Cell, Syndulla helped expand their forces, gain new allies, and establish a base of operations on the remote world Atollon, though they were unable to help Lothal as the Empire strengthened its grip on the planet. As the rebellion began to grow larger and become more of a threat, the Empire selected Grand Admiral Thrawn and gave him the task of dismantling the rebels. Hera continued to lead Phoenix Cell and became an influential leader of the rebellion. Hera's cell was among the first to join the formal Rebel Alliance upon its creation. Thrawn, however, located their base and launched an offensive against them on Atollon. Although they were significantly weakened and their base was destroyed, Hera, the Spectres, and several starships managed to escape the onslaught.

I like her portrayal a lot, but I really don’t understand why they didn’t just cast Vanessa Marshall, the voice actor. I’m not for doing that with every live-action iteration, but she absolutely looks the part, has the eyes for it, and actually looks Hera’s age at the point of Ashoka

Hera is in my top 10 characters in the franchise and I think they really hit with Rosario as Ahsoka (though I have some reservations about her purpose and if she should still really be around at this point even as my favourite character in the whole franchise), but Hera just feels off. Definitely to do with the writing in places for sure but I also maybe think Mary wasn’t the right choice. Hard to tell though without the best material for the character imo. But I loved the idea of Cobie Smoulders playing her tbh

I was surprised to find out that she was playing the character and then when I see her both in the show and behind the scenes, it’s clear she was having a good time. She might not have had a lot of energy as her character, but that’s because the character is a little older than she was in Rebels and the state of the galaxy in the story is different. The Galactic Civil War is over, there’s nothing big and exciting going on in the galaxy anymore.

Only thing they got wrong with her. She would have never had Sabine Try to disarm a bomb in a hospital... That to me was the only problem out of the whole season with hera

The biggest problem with making an entire race of sexy alien women is that no human can equate to the standard of "entire species of the most gorgeous people in the universe" and they had alread cast Rosario Dawson so they were out of luck with picking most beautiful human to play her.
