NOTE: This an expansion of an entry from the Rock Band iceberg video I did to coincide with this! If you want more, make sure to check out the full iceberg video by clicking this link:

Rock Band is a music game that has died once in 2013, and yet again in 2024.

It was totally expected, but something about it's recent demise just bugs me to no end. And I am going to try my darndest to explain why, no matter how confusing it may be.

yeah this perfectly encapsulates my felling with this series as well, It's been with me my entire life, and has fully shaped my music taste, and I'm so glad rb3 deluxe and rock band 4 still have online support, I wish 2 still had, I think it still does on xbox but I ain't buying a 360 for just rb2. Anyways for me 2 will always be my favorite rhythm game of all time.

Yeah, Epic tends to acquire developer's and killing the game they're mostly known for..

We kind of known that HMX was struggling financially and joining Epic was most certainly saving the company.
But having to kill the RB series that HMX loves and is most famous for has to hurt in order to save the company.

There could of course be a possibility that Epic & HMX makes another RB installment with some kind of subscription service, but I heavily doubt it.
It feels like the old HMX is gone and is basically just Epic by now (I mean, its basically just us hardcore rhythm game fans that knows that HMX makes FF. For everyone else it's just another thing Epic makes for Fortnite). They don't interact with the community anymore (the HMX live streams) and it doesn't seem like we'll ever get another original music game from them (like dropmix, audica, amplitude).

The best opportunity of getting Epic to realize that FF and RB can coexist would be for Microsoft to release another GH.
