The Colorado 14ers Project is a story of grit, adventure, and redefining what it means to ski big mountains under our own power. Created by Reilly Kaczmarek—photographer, filmmaker, and athlete—this film follows a season-long journey to climb and ski Colorado’s highest peaks, relying solely on human effort.

With each ascent, the challenge goes beyond just reaching the summit. Unpredictable weather, technical descents, and the ever-present risk of avalanches demand careful decision-making and a deep respect for the mountains. But with every turn earned, the reward is that much greater.
This project isn’t just about skiing—it’s about rethinking our approach to adventure. From sustainable gear choices to thoughtful avalanche decisions, every step of the journey was made with the goal of minimizing impact while maximizing the experience.

Join Reilly Kaczmarek in exploring the balance between effort and reward, challenge and respect, adventure and responsibility. Watch the full film now.

People taking a snowmobiles in the backcountry is almost insignificant in CO2 pollution. Governments and huge corporations are the ones producing CO2 at significant enough quantities to cause problems, not the individual person.

Well done and thank you for thinking of the generations to come. Great cinematography. Good luck with the other 14ers and stay safe out there and make good decisions.

nice film. I got to drive a Rivian once and it was awesome. Good luck with the rest of the 14ers.

Pretty cool little film! It's nice to see someone showing off some of the terrain in Colorado while also bringing up the concern of sustainability in the sport. I will say that it's unrealistic to expect everyone to purchase an electric vehicle to reduce their carbon footprint because of the price barrier and the issues that come with using an electric vehicle in the Colorado Mountains in the winter (e.g. reduced range, insufficient charging infrastructure (especially in more remote areas), etc.). It would have been interesting to hear you talk about things people can do (e.g. using skis, wax, etc. that are made w/o forever chemicals or from renewable/recycled sources) that are more attainable for the general public. I think talking through small changes people can make in their daily life would also be beneficial. Lots of small changes can be just as impactful as a major investment like an electric car, especially because the vast majority of people only spend 2-3 days in the mountains, but will spend 4-5 days down on the plains.

You used the mountains to virtue signal

The side stories here are laughable. Just ski and enjoy it. Your diving a Rivian to do this could not be more irrelevant to the climate. It is in fact the essence of virtue signaling. And the name change to Blue Sky is nice but the skiing is much nicer. And "fight for climate justice"? This is a garbage phrase. Meaningless virtue signaling with no actual usefulness.

Where does the electricity charging your Rivian come from? Are EV batteries recycled? Cool film

you talk about lack of carbon footprint, yet I see a rivian, you talk about human powered, yet I see a rivian that mentioned to get you to the places to ski. you are contradicting yourself and what you say, it is hyprorisy, that is what you are saying and are ok with it, thus the film. You noted the carbon footprint of getting to your destinations with an EV vs ICE vehicle, your numbers are NOT accurate!!! What you do not include is the procuring of the materials for the EV, battery material and mining of those materials, which has a HUGE affect to the environment, in most cases more than ICE vehicles, and it's been proven. SMH IF, and a huge IF, you were interested in sustainability and human powered to achieve what you wanted, you would have rode a bicycle!!! What I see from your film is a contradiction and hyprocisy!! I could not fiinish watching this video!!! SMH, hyprorisy!!!!
