It’s probably because you don’t come across many people with gray eyes. Less than one percent of the world’s population has them.

They may be a rarity but they are, without a doubt, pretty to look at. It’s like spotting a rare bird from the Amazon jungle!

All my life, I thought I had blue eyes. In a way I was heart broken when I realized they’re actually gray, but I’ve grown to love them. They change colors too! Green blue and even white/silver.

My son has gray eyes, if he wears a blue shirt, they change bright blue

my eyes appear silverly blue with green tints most of the time,
when i’m wearing darker clothing they appear more gray. when i’m wearing lighter coloured clothing they appear more blue but with tints of silver. in bright lighting they are gray but are very much mistaken as blue.
when i’m sad/about to cry, my eyes look more green. other emotions are more gray.

Apparently, I really do have gray eyes. I could never put my finger on it what color were they exactly, but after a closer inspection, I strongly believe they are indeed gray. This is supported by the fact that I'm Finnish and I'm quite sensitive to harsh sunlight. There is also small amount of brown/gold around the pupils in both eyes.

For me, I had blue eyes when I was younger but now in my 26 they are 100% grey. There is no mistaking now. I love it!

Until adulthood people kept telling me that i have blue/ green eyes, when i discovered that they were actualy gray i knew i was right about my suspicions. Always thought i had a strange eye color. I never could work out what colour my eyes were until adulthood. They'd sometimes appear blue or green in certain lighting. I asked an optometrist and they were confirmed to be grey. My parents had grey blue and grey green eyes

my whole life i just went with "green" whenever someone asked me what colour my eyes are. i realized at 18 i have central heterochromia and then really started to look at my eyes. i have gray eyes with a golden ring around my irises... driver's license still says green though because i'm way too embarrassed to admit i didn't know my eye colour until 23.
