OnePlus Watch 3 Review: The Best Android Smartwatch?

//ONEPLUS WATCH 3 REVIEW

It’s one of those dull but durable realities: sometimes, getting better is just a matter of consistent effort over time. Case in point: OnePlus started its smartwatch journey in 2021, with a misfire so disastrous that it would be two full years before it tried again. That followup from 2024 was good, but with obvious, frustrating shortcomings that saw me drop it off my wrist as soon as my review was done.

I expected much the same from the OnePlus Watch 3. What I got instead was the best watch on Wear OS (for me, anyway). And to carry on the tradition of reviewing OnePlus devices on big ships … I took this one to sea, too! Join me for the MrMobile OnePlus Watch 3 Review.

[ABOUT MRMOBILE'S ONEPLUS WATCH 3 REVIEW]

I liked the quirky "Meda in China" and was eager to get it but shipping apparently just halted until that mistake was fixed :/

4 days on a charge with all this use and an always on display? That's mental. I'm sold.

It's heartwarming to see OnePlus finally grasping the concept of a functional smartwatch after just three attempts.

All the other reviews seem to solely focus on the fitness aspects of the watch so i appreciate the perspective of someone who strolled around a boat and chilled, much more my speed haha! I bought the OP13 in January and this will go along great with it. Liked and subbed.

I don't know who might draw from this but here it goes.
One of those watches was broght to me from Australia, because of this review. (i'm brazilian; a place Oneplus has no representative what so ever. so it was a risk acquisition.)
of course i watched many other but this one was the one the push me into making a decision in favor of oneplus.

I had relatives visiting Australia from march to may, and it was not since 3 days before they where due to the flight back this watch showed out on the onplus Australian store site.
This is what i have to say, 2 weeks on my life with it.
This watch is everything everybody is saying and a bit more, but it has some questinable decisions by oneplus on the software side that leaves me wondering if they're not made up problems, so they just have something to show for next year with the oneplus watch 4.
First battery. Yes it takes with me 4.5 to 5 days to charge... i have it for almost 21 days by now and i have charged it 4 times. Which for someone that is constatly using the voice to write feature to reply to e-mails, and getting notifications every 20 min or so is a very impressive feature.
I can also serve as a witness of the over-log of steps and over-burn of calories this watch gives us. it happens; every single day.
I can also test for the confort of the watch and strap, i'm not a fan of "sport" silicone straps, but this one really made me change my mind a bit about it. I'm able to finally forget that im using a watch on my wrist evethough it weighs north of 80g.

My first disapointment with this watch is the fact that you cannot as it stands to place your own music of files from your phone into the watch to listen to or store away. So for a watch heavily focus on health/been active your only option to listen to music when doing a work out, or going for a dog-walk is to be hostage of spotify or youtube music ( that came pre installed and can't be deleted from the device (wear os, i know)) or any other stream apps and if you're going to a place that has no network connection to your phone, or are going to leave your phone behind like to a run or walk, or bike ride. Your only option to have music is to download it from those apps and listen to it offline. Why the F oneplus gave me 32gb of storage then?

My second disapointment with this watch is the lack of basic integration of some features. I have a Galaxy S20Fe as my phone ( I know it's old; but is reliable, works well, and does everything i need my smartphone to do ) the bad surprise with this watch was three days in when i was taking a buss to work and recieved a phone call... my phone was on my backpack and the watch vibrated to tell me about the incoming call. I decided to pick it up, since i had my ear-buds on listening to music i tapped into the watch to answer the call. It took me 30 seconds to realise the watch had not re-routed the call to my ear-buds, but was voicing it from my wrist, for everyone around to hear.
That was unplesant to say the least. After that i did some testing i discover that no matter which earbuds you have or if they are connected to the watch or the phone it self, if you pick up a call on the watch it will always route it to the speakers on your wrist and for that i ask; do oneplus know the concept of privice?
Why do a galaxy watch or a Huawei watch can do this on a galaxy phone but this brand new device lack this feature? The only way for you to switch (as far as i know) the call to your earbuds is to take your phone out of whatever the hole you fit it to and switch the call audio there. But if i'm gonna need to take my phone out anyway, why do i have this watch?
There is a "work around" this problem, by going into my phone bluetooth conection and turning off the call managing option for the watch there, the watch still notifies me of incoming calls, and let me pick them up, but, i can't ajust the volume and after 10 secs i have picked the call up, the call tile on the watch says that i need to continius the call on my phone and disapears, taking away my hability to end that call from my watch.

In short (not really). I'm happy with this watch, it accomplished what i wanted from it, that was a good device to complement my phone and that would prevent me to fall over into the Samsung Eco-system trap. Since my phone will be replaced in the next 2 years and if i had gone with a galaxy watch, it would be financial suicide to buy any phone other than a Samsung. But i really can't shake the feeling that those little things wrong with this watch are "made up" (sort of), things that oneplus are aware of and are aware that it annoyes their user base, but decided to delay the fix or solution to next year, so they can hasvest more positive reviews out of reviewers that will never have enough hands on time with the divices to discover this "little" short commings before their pieces are out on the media.

Stumbled upon this video during my OnePlus Watch 3 research... Besides the great insights in the product I would like to complement you on the video style. Fun to watch, complete, and down to earth.
Thanks!

@3:00 You could program both buttons on the oneplus watch 2 as well.

How does it compare to Apple Ultra2? Does it give turn by turn direction when paired with the phone like my iPhone to Ultra2?

I don't know how anybody could stand wearing a 46 mm watch. I also still don't find smart watches to be compelling enough for me to wear one instead of a mechanical watch. It would be interesting though if a company decided to use an eink display for a smart wearable. You could remove the second hand, and have it update the screen only every minute, that thing would probably be able to last on a decent battery for weeks.

I will never purchase a OnePlus product ever again. After they refuse to fix my OnePlus buds Pro that has a battery drain issue. Even after reaching out to the high ups of 1 + they refuse.

I use a Google phone, but I don't like the Pixel watch at all, so I'm on a Galaxy Ultra for now. I am definitely tempted to switch to this and try selling my Ultra. I'd probably break even or maybe even turn a slight profit. I like the bigger watches and ones that go for a classy look. I was leaning toward holding out for the Galaxy 8 Classic, but I think I might jump on this instead.

Wish the dial didn't have the second markers, really kills the otherwise fairly clean look

I'll keep my Huwaei watch 4 pro, I need 2 weeks of battery life with AOD on and wireless charging, plus it comes with a titanium strap.

Tell me about the sweep-second hand watch faces. I couldn't find a single for my OnePlus Watch 2 - I guess it's not compatible or something. Is that some premium watch face action there, or ... ? Details please. :) Great review, super high quality video - Thanks!
