To be fair, this isn’t actually the history of Australia, is the history of the colonisation of Australia. Aborigines were here for 60, 000 years before colonisation, so…. this animation like many of our books only record 200 and odd years and miss out 60, 000.

Ned Kelly is an absolute legend, the Robin Hood of Australia, the poor mans hero! 🤗

Ned Kelly was a bushranger. Your equivalent to an outlaw. He had a final showdown with police wearing that metal armour. It worked well, untill the police figured out that is they could just concentrate their shots at his legs.

You must look into Ned Kelly. I went to primary school (grade school) in the town next to site of the Kelly Gang's last stand and have been into Kelly history since.
I suggest "Ned Kelly: Australia's Most Famous Outlaw" by Biographics. A very good overview with real pictures.

You guys should check out Ned and the Kelly gang but we had quite a few crazy Bushrangers causing trouble around the Aussie scrub too.

1854 spirit. The first time Australia stood up to be recognised as a mixed race people not to be looked at as lower class British subjects. The Australian Army name of Digger actually comes from the Eureka Stockade.

There have been many movies about Ned Kelly. Some good, some terrible. Mick Jagger played him once in one of the most awful demonstrations of how not to act in a movie that you've ever seen. The first ever feature length movie made anywhere in the world was an Australian effort about the "Kelly Gang" (suck on that Hollywood). Probably one of the most watchable examples is the most recent one made in 2003 and starring Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Naomi Watts. It received mixed reviews from critics but I liked it and it's certainly the best movie about Ned Kelly. Ned is easily the best known Australian anti-hero, you would be hard pressed to find an Australian who doesn't know about him.

you gotta have a date night together and watch "young Kelly" a comedy about a young ned Kelly, but not really, it's a classic Ausie comedy in the weird Al style lol.

Canberra was not a town chosen as the Federal Capital city halfway between the two most major Australian cities, Sydney and Melbourne. There was originally no town there, it was just a sheep station, or as an American might put it a sheep ranch. Canberra was thus designed, an actual competition was held to choose the best design, long before any work started on constructing any building, road or other structure on the site. Even the big lake that is a feature of the city of Canberra is artifical and constructed as per the plan.

Before the British started transporting their convicts to Australia, they transported them to the colonies on the east coast of North America. A fact that a lot of Americans don't seem to know. It was only after the Revolutionary War, when King George III lost the colonies and they became The United States of America, that the British needed a new place to transport their undesirables. They chose the east coast of Australia as a precursor to setting up a new colony to replace the one's that they had lost. So, while it's true that many of the first Europeans in Australia were Convicts, the same is true of the United States. That's why the first fleet to Australia didn't come until 1788 when the continent had been known about by Europeans for a hundred (or so) years.

Stolen children is debatable as these children where looked down on by both sides
The children would've died if the didn't get removed as they where frowned appon by indigenous communities
So they where removed and the churches took care of them
Now this is a contentious issue's depending on which side you are from
Funny thing is 3/4 indigenous people now days are mixed very small ammount of full indigenous aboriginal people or communities
The majority of mixed class themselves as indigenous aboriginal as lots of financial benefits from it
Their will be people who disagree with me and that's fine as far as im concerned their only one race in Australia 🇦🇺
That's is we all are one Australians race should be living under one law for all
This doesn't mean people have to forget their heritage or celibate them either and sadly at the moment we have a minority activists in government and corporations trying to destroy our heritage and create segregation and why the voice referendum failed
Because the majority voted no and rejected the proposal
So now they are trying to take our history and heritage away
Like Australia 🇦🇺 and Anzac day their trying to remove the flag
As well as name Australia and flag
Even certain corporations not stocking Australia 🇦🇺 day merchandise including flag
Because it's part of the present government ideology same shit every western society facing
Also want to change names of places That's been here since settlement
So don't believe everything you see on the net as only show the good
We are no different as most countries you have your activists who cause instability for financial purposes
Nothing to do with the majority of society we actually get along quite well and referendum proved this
Unfortunately we have a woke activists government's at this present time and people waiting for next election to have their say
Thankfully the majority of aussies are tolerant of each other and are aware of what's going on and remaining civil to each other
Then will make changes at the election in a couple years time with their freedom of choice on voting slip in a civilised way
Sorry for rant but not everything is rosy all the time but in general everyone shows tolerance
Cheers guys 🦘🇦🇺👍

2:40. Where do you think the British were dumping convicts before Australia? The date of the landing of the first in 1788 is no coincidence. Hmm, I wonder what happened to a certain bunch of British colonies just a few years before?

Amazes me that so many Americans dont know that part of their history. That Britain dumped tens of thousands of convicts in the colonies.
