I think people forget Neds character especially when young. In the scene with his sister and the baby, its clear just from looking at her/the baby that he would raise Jon as his son out of love for his family. Knowing Robert would kill the child, the only real way he could protect Jon and ensure he would be safe was to keep him near him. He was an honourable man and loved his sister dearly. He knew of his wifes faults, the only way to protect Jon was to keep it hidden... after all he was the rightful heir to the throne and Ned fully knew that.

Their situation is also completely different.

Jon was brought to Winterfell at his birth, and Ned raised him exactly as he would raise Robb. He was taught by the same Maester and instructors who taught his siblings, he sat at their table, and Ned refused to send him as ward to one of his bannermen. This sort of behavior was definitely unusual; think of Edric Storm, who was a bastard of noble birth, and still raised far from KL. Ned essentially dishonored her not only by having a bastard (not really as we know), but he continued doing so by keeping Jon in Winterfell.

On top of that, Jon looked like a trueborn Stark, while most of Catโ€™s children looked more Tully. And considering the whole matter of the Blackfyre rebellions, it is not weird that Catelyn feels threatened by Jon.

Corlys never brought Alyn and Addam at court; they were not raised like the sons of a nobleman but instead had to work to raise their station. So itโ€™s not unusual that Rhaenys lacks the same resentment as Catelyn.

I think she wrote the final season, John exiled, sansa became queen

Book Rhaenys had a bad temper. She would NEVER accept her husband's bastards, that's why Corlys kept them in secret untill she died

Catelyn just hates him because she thinks he would usurp Robb.

She literally said it should have been you when he visited bran after fall

Ned kept Jon's true identity from Cat for a reason. From watching the show, the only person Ned trusted and told was his brother Ben. Brothers sworn to secrecy to ensure their sister's son survived.

I understand why Ned didnโ€™t want to tell her Jonโ€™s true parentage but he should have told her something so she didnโ€™t treat him that way even as a baby. I feel like he looked at it as his sacrifice being a stain on his honor but what about Jon? Growing up being treated that way then sent to the wall like some common criminal at like 18. Like Jon said to Tyrion at the wall, โ€œmy father knew what this place was, everyone knew and no one said anything. Except you; you were the only one that told me what this place really wasโ€ that resonated with me. Jon was a 100% right there. And to me, THAT is a bigger stain on Nedโ€™s honor than anything else.

Catelynn's hatred of Jon actually kept him safe from Robert

I think another thing that also helped build resentment is that Ned refused to say anything about Jon. He never spoke a word to Catelyn about who his mother was, where Jon came from, etc. And the one time she did ask him, he ordered her to never ask again and made sure the servants did too. Granted we the readers, know why but Catelyn doesn't. So she's left to her own speculation, which was "whoever Jon's mother was, Ned had loved her fiercely." That is for sure gonna leave a thorn in the love they have. As well as the whole strange arrangement Ned had for Jon that is wierd in Westeros to do woth a bastard.

Rhaenys situation is different, like you said. Because she just found out and in Alyn's situation, she knows Corlys is punishing Alyn out of shame. Alyn saved his lord's life, worthy of some reward and honor, at least. I think both Catelyn and Rhaenys have similarities in the sense that the man they love and are married to are being dishonest and don't trust them. There is a walking talking reminder that their husband was unfaithful, and they can't even have a decent conversation about it and the kid.

Catlyn Stark is treated like the Lori Grimes of GOT. But be honest with yourselves, how would any of you act if your spouse who you loved came back with another woman or mans child

Thatโ€™s the show version, Rhaenys was an extremely jealous women in the books. If she knew Corlys had bastards it wouldnโ€™t end well.

Why cut the part where he got sick and she stayed by his side and prayed to the gods that should he live she would treat him like her own?

But the rest of what she says is so sad. Jon did get sick and she sat beside his bed and prayed for him and promised she would do better by him but when he was healed she couldnโ€™t bear it. I wish instead of showing so much resentment towards Jon she would have shown it towards Ned

Rhaenys never took it. It said in books that Corlys had hidden his bastards due to Rhaenys fear that if she found them, she could have them killed. In HOTD writers have whitewashed characters.

Itโ€™s telling that Ned felt like he couldnโ€™t trust her enough to tell her. So I think he knew she would have betrayed the baby anyway. I didnโ€™t care for Catlyn at all. Thru the whole series she got on my nerves.
