Thing about Paul Grey, not many people know, the reason he played bass the way he does, is because he was never really a bassist to begin with.

He started off as a guitar player, and he never even played a bass, until he joined Slipknot, he lied and told them he played bass just so he'd be in the band.

So the techniques he used on bass is the same technique he used when he was learning guitar.

That's what made him a legendary bass player, a bass player who was never a bassist to begin with, he only became a bassist when he joined Slipknot, using what he learned from playing guitar.
