And their balance is key. Guys who are constantly shooting in different variations have such good balance. Kyrie, Kevin Durant, Steph, even Luka they all have very good balance and practice their balance even when they are shooting.

Confidence is key. The most important thing you can have as a hooper

I practice everyday, and what I like to do is take just as much 35 and 40 foot shots as I do normal 3 pointers. It rly does go a long way range wise

I taught myslef in like a year and now people like waaaat just happened lol. It was all science for me. How do you generate power basically. And of course you need good hand eye and depth perception. Also I practiced a LoT of super high arc shots at first as well. Get used to generating tons of spin and height/distance

On real shit, It’s in the eyes! The body will follow! Just focus on the rim even if it’s just for a moment!

U can tell how dame had to take the confidence to drain a shot despite any circumstance like his clutch against the kings, he was 1-10 from 3 there before that clutch shot and he still managed to get the confidence to beat the buzzer

I have job for ticket marketing for the blazers and someone came up with the idea to put up a hoop in front of the mota center, put up a dummy the height of Paul George contesting the shot and a marker where dame pulled from and to stand on that point and look at the hoop is so fuckin wild to me lol and I’m 6’1

Wrist, Core, Base

And a one motion jumpshot

Mixed that with Irrational confidence there you go!! It’s a skill that need reps but shooting from deep isn’t impossible if you remove fear

A lot of time to practice their jumpshots in May and June

I weirdly find it easier to shoot from deeper then closer. I think I over power middys and 3’s so whenever I take that few steps back I drain em

Its funny because
As a 6-7th grader I was shooting the logo shot all the time. I was practicing both logo and half court
Shots. Age 12-13 I had confidence and I made it during games too.
For my age back then I think it was just easier to learn the muscle memory because basically half court was my range limit back then.

It’s their legs and it’s how fluid the motion is. Don’t get them wrong you don’t have to be strong in their teams but they’re so much stronger shooting wise due to the reps they’ve put in. It’s all muscle memory. All basketball players no matter the level know the feeling when they have the strength to shoot wherever. Then it’s all about precision and measuring the shot.

As a old head that hooped for very strict coaches back in the day, I always cringe watching these guys shoots those long distance three’s because I remember getting yanked out the game for trying shit like that lol these guys have so much freedom and fun they get to be creative beyond belief now
