Lowes has a MULCH GLUE. MIX AND SPRAY ON THE ROCKS. 1ST MAKE SURE THE ROCKS ARE LEVEL.

you are a country genius...I built an 8 foot diameter fire pit in the way back we always have to bring flashlights...no electricity back there but I could rig up a car or marine battery with an inverter if needed

What size 4x4's did you use? How deep in the ground are they burred therefore how tall are they from the top of the ground to the top of the 4x4? How far did your measure out from the center of your fire pit?
