What playstyle are you guys currently playing?

If you could turn wood logs into sticks at the sawmill, it would be 1000x more fun being an archer.

I'm playing as Ranger, You have to have a bow that has 'brutal' perk (+20% crit dam), my head shots hit for 500+ at level 23. It does require more gathering/farming than any other class. It's not terrible if you're vigilant, I'll note my method. I have a seed planter going at the base 24/7 make shrub seedlings, sitting on like 1, 000+ seeds in no time. I spend about 5mins planting 200 bushes on my farm, before i go out on an adventure, returns 200 twigs, (about 2mins to collect) which makes 500 arrows. For iron I glide from the far eastern tower straight down to the Iron Mine, you don't have to kill the root and fight the scythe boss each time, but it give you a gap in the shroud (takes 1min). I mine until I break the pick (7mins) you get enough ore to make like 60 bars which makes 1, 500 arrows. Total farm time is 17mins or so, and i do this every few hours of play. Feathers are by far the biggest blocker, you will need 5 per 50 arrows, so i just try to always kill the dragon birds and chickens during the adventure time.

I'm playing Mage, there's a "Ring of Rapacity" that you can farm that gives you 20% mana regen each. With two of those equipped you legitimately have infinite mana. Even makes gliding with the "Updraft" perk a blast. I was always going to play a Mage, but the fact it's so strong makes this game so fun to play for me. I was missing that option in something like Valheim (which I've heard is possible in the late game)

We should be able to retrieve arrows if we hit the target.

I play as a spell sword, like I do in Skyrim (perhaps it's called a battlemage?). I use the wand as my projectile weapon until the mobs get closer. Then I switch to one-handed and shield, which, when combined with the Jump Attack perk (which isn't limited to barbarian), makes this game a total blast to play. Although it either needs a horse, or a way to use the grappling hook in way more places, or a way to climb/traverse vertically, a la Zelda.

I usually go with a wand but I also use a shield so I still have the option to block when needed. Definitely helps me stay alive longer in those big fights!

Go down and take the blood mage perk, then into healer tree and take the healing aura.
You'll have unlimited mana and be pretty tough to kill.

I play Wizzard with Wands, Fire aura, Heal aura, double jump but i wear tank armor.

The small adds like bugs just die to my aura, i can focus with wand on the big guys, heal and tank armor aura helps
me survive my mistakes :)

Also, we play in duo and booth auras stuck, so ... double heal double burn :)

I haven’t picked the game up yet, but this is cool information because I was always going to be playing a mage. It’s nice to know that it’s a good way to go because many games kinda make magic too weak because they’re scared about balance or something but go too hard on it lol

Archer Class, The blue armor headpiece and gloves for the crit and ranged damage. The Gloom Monarch chest, legs, and feet for the health boost in case you make mistakes or run out of arrows and need to get up close and personal. Plus is gives off a decent heavy archer type look and is forgiving when you do accidentally glide into the middle of a group and need to make a quick escape. Double jump perk helps with that as well.

acid spray is basically Hoarfrost stomp in Elden Ring pre-nerf. Love it, it's so good.

I do play with 1h melee and shield, and bunch of Life Leech, and good stamina and life regen food. It's just annoying to deal with some enemies that have one shot mechanics, otherwise it's pretty fun to play around. And the Leech makes me heal fully very easily with a few weapon swings, so I can tank most of the stuff.
The only thing I felt lackluster is there's no way to deal with the flying mage mobs, since you cannot melee hit them, and you need to use a wand or bow to deal with them.

I have spent about 30 hours at lvl 25 and have all "end-game" items. After lots of testing, this is my tier list.
S+: Wizard
A+: Ranger
B: 2-hand melee, Wand (Battlemage)
C: 1-hand melee
I shared this on Reddit and they roasted me about putting 1-hand melee at the bottom. I went back and tested it another 5-10 hours and found the same result as you. Damage is good and the playstyle is fun, it just takes far far far more damage than other other builds. Regarding bow, universally, everyone agrees arrows are a problem. We need an eternal arrow and each craft should make 500 arrow, not 50. Assuming that is fixed, I have Ranger in the perfect spot. Great risk vs reward playstyle. I don't know exactly how my build differs from your, but my arrows do 700 damage per headshot (skillshot). With that much damage, it makes short work of all level 30 enemies. Wizard is overtuned right now. I'm a firm believer Wand and healing should scale with int, whereas staff damage should scale with spirit. At current, Wizard can pick up Damage, Earth Aura, and Water Aura. This build does everything well with no downsides. By changing staff damage to spirit, Wizard won't be able to get healing and defense. As such, it will play much like the Ranger. High damage at the cost of survivability.
4:13 - PSA, never turn your back to enemies. They get a guaranteed crit and backstab. You will notice their normal attacks did about 100 damage, but once your turned your back to them they did a hit of 420.

Melee is once again riding the struggle bus. The green cleaver guy and the ranged mobs make melee very unenjoyable.

Good information, but anyone watching should know that there's no chance acid bite isn't in for a nerf, and probably pretty soon.

Since this is still early access I imagine lots of this will change, I just hope they don’t nerf the mage builds to hard.

I've been doing a mixed build with melee adding in some backstab perks. basically dodge roll behind enemies and do an extra 50% damage. its pretty fun, and keeps the momentum and mobility up with a few extra stam regen clothes/food. Just wait for them to go into attack animation or parry, then roll behind em and slay. Its pretty fun with faster swings as well.
