Brain Computer Interfaces

I've laid out the blueprint for a brain computer interface called "The Link". This is a device that uses DNA for processing and storage, temporal interference to alter brain states, and infrared spectroscopy to read brain states. Its powered using your body heat, noninvasive, and waterproof. This device is just a thought experiment, but real companies are working on this technology today. What does this kind of technology entail for privacy? Will there be an intelligence disparity? What role does AI play in all of this? What does it even mean to be human? I tackle these hard questions and give a technical overview of this device in this video. Enjoy!

I think Siraj had a bit more than a microdose :D

That difficult smile when “I gotta stare at a screen”, I live with it everyday. Brave video, march on.

So, this is what Elon specified in the interview. Nevertheless, this shit freaks me out and at the same time, it is exciting as hell.

I've never watched a video that sums up my thoughts that well!

I'm going back to school with the aim of working in the field of BCI. Thanks for making this video!

Alongside downloading skills you can also make artificial organs - like eyes that can see infrared and ultraviolet, new brain architecture that would allow people to intuit complex mathematics and physics.

The next few decades are going to be amazing!

Recording our dreams? Man, that alone would be cool.

Siraj talks with his hands so much that I'd almost be able to understand him if I was deaf

By far, "for ME" this is your best video ever. Thank you very much!

Atleast someone thinking different than AGI-ASI.
we don't need AGI, and it's a hell of a shot on consciousness.
one of your best vid siraj!

Love this channel, thanks for free knowledge.
@0:42, sir, you say "In 20 years, we will use it in everyday life",
2018: invigilator tells to put our digital watches outside,
2038: invigilator tells to put "THE LINK behind EAR" outside, and then allow for exam.
I am eagerly waiting for those "AI-Days".

I can't just sit and see all of this happening. I am coming now. I will create these great inventions.

Hello Siraj, I have watched most of your videos and this one is by far my favorite. I was thinking about interface implants that our neocortex would be trained to make synaptic paths to, but regardless of the technology used this is definitely the future. Thank you.

Interesting concept, and nice details for a theoretical device. Being in a BCI lab, even with invasive microelectrode arrays in the motor cortex is only enough to decode spatial information. FNIRS (or maybe temporal interference) may be able to target the prefrontal cortex (decision-making / executive function), but using averaging techniques to decode information probably will be difficult. Currently, BCI technology mainly benefits those who are severely disabled (locked-in syndrome, paraplegic, etc.) and requires invasive implants. Also, the DNA from the skin probably won't contain information useful for the BCI. As for the DNA logic gates example, ligating DNA strands aren't that easy (and usually has poor yields even with directional cloning), and even so this Link would have to be able to fluctuate in temperature, pH, etc. per condition, and that might not be possible when its only powered by body heat.

Obviously there are more holes to this, but nonetheless, a very well thought out concept and thought experiment.

Well I think it is going to help us in many ways. But Siraj over hyped about it :D

The best video I have ever seen because this is exactly my purpose of life. This is exactly why am living right now to make a reality. Thank you Siraj. Please guide me to Know everything about the Link.
