Incredible Boy Plays Street Piano in New Orleans

This is Nick Wilson when he was 14 years old, comes up to my piano on the streets of New Orleans and starts playing this incredible piece. It was clearly an original piece and he was incredible!!

HOLY CRAPPP! Thats my brother! We were on a New Orleans trip and that guy travels around with his piano. He asked my brother if he plays and my brother hopped on. I tried to find this 4 years ago, and cant believe he and I found it just recently! Were from the Twin Cities and my brother is now writing scores for plays in the twin cities as well as a piano teacher.

This young man's name is Nick Wilson.  He is now 20 years old and will be attending the McNally Smith School of Music in the fall.  He has gone on to compose many pieces on his own and you can search on youtube for many of the videos that have been posted, most notably, his 2012 senior recital which was a 15 minute medley of Coldplay pieces all done from memory.  He has big plans to compose music, in fact he wrote the background music for one of the plays in last summer's Fringe Festival in Minneapolis.  He was a four-year member on Snare Drum for the Eagan High School Winter Drumline.  It is wonderful to see all the positive comments and we will link more recent performances from him to this site soon.

wow, ok, I am not perfect of course, but it saddens me to see negative comments here!The boy is 14, and is playing on the street, so it's not like he put himself in a position of being judged on his playing, just playing for fun.And also I would like to point out, that to my knowledge, this boy did NOT say himself that he is good, others did.   With all the anger, judgment, and hatred in the world already, can't we just appreciate his playing and enjoy?

I don't understand why most musicians now a days are so critical about other musicians. Why can't we just support anyone who wants to learn to play music? Even if they are a beginner who's been playing a week or they've played 30 years. Did you criticizing jackasses see that kids smile in the very beginning? You can tell he LOVES the piano and playing music. Just respect that he had the confidence to play on a random piano out in a crowded street. Cheers.
