Many thanks for this vlog, Andrew! I found this vid by chance, and watched with interest. I live in the northwest of Tasmania right on the Bass Strait separating Tassie from southeast Australian mainland. I walk to the beach 5/6 days a week for exercise with my 40mm lens on a mirrorless camera body (for lightness). I take lots of closeups at low tide. Sometimes I take the macro lens. Your vid inspires me to carry the tripod and macro from time to time, and see what I can produce! The entire 360 deg. shore line of Tassie has fascinating beach and shoreline patterns and colours. Thanks for the inspiration!

Having spent a very unpleasant two hours this morning trudging over photographically boring arable fields in Essex, getting tangled in brambles, clarted in thick mud and getting no decent shots, I found your vid very inspiring. oh well done Andrew. For a while there you reminded me of me, first getting cut off by the incoming tide and then soaking my feet having to step through freezing water and further giving comment to it by the use of colourful metaphor. Thank you for your you tube vids, they are both informative and entertaining.

Cool post and pics, Andrew! Admire your grit to walk the beach in winter. (Title alternative - Getting Your Feet Wet With Macro at the Beach😁). Kidding aside, I’d likely forego the Zen and quickly pick up a few promising specimens for shooting macro back indoors under controlled conditions, while sipping a hot beverage. Glowing shell pic something special - gives me an idea of how to illuminate a shell indoors (maybe via LED inside out). Ever do something similar? Learned that starfish indoors tend to go brittle quickly. Cheers!

Hi Andrew another really good and entertaining video. The one thing I did was to put a small strip of fluorescent tape round each of the tripod legs, it works well in dark woods also. I learnt the hard way. Best wishes Andy👍

Do people ever get trapped out there with no help and washed out to sea? I don't live near an ocean so it's a very different experience to me.
