In this lesson, we will learn how to add and subtract fractions. In order to add or subtract fractions, we must have a common denominator. If you are given a problem with unlike denominators, you will need to find the LCD, which is the LCM of the denominators. From there, you will multiply convert each fraction into an equivalent fraction with the LCD as its denominator. At that point, we can just add or subtract the numerators and place the result over the common denominator. Lastly, we will simplify the fraction by cancelling out the GCF from the numerator and denominator if necessary.
