My theory: see, in the past, when once question was asked about agent 8, A dev responded that "when they will get back". So people started assuming that they were on mission but what if agent was captured by scions and Valorant didn't not knew about it and when abyss was captured, she was discovered but not recognized.
And see, the way jett was talking about her like she was might knew her when she joined the protocol as jett was too one of the first agents to join, and hear how she said, " she is getting powerful" or something like it . Meaning she was known to her pervious powers too and now she is mastering them and that's why later on joining agents like skye are not known to her powers
