Cybertruck Supercharging! W side Construction Progress! 4 August 2023 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

Gigafactory Texas on 4 August 2023! This is where Model Y’s and Cyber Truck production happens!

There was a lot going on today, including me using a brand-new drone, the DJI Air 3! I had to learn its nuances today so some of my video is slightly less "smooth", but as time went on, I think I improved a lot. This drone is fantastic, and the images, zoom and dual lenses makes a huge different. I hope you can tell by these images and the video!

Possibly the biggest news today is a brand-new Cybertruck at the east supercharging station. I say brand new because it is! Plastic on the seats, a bar code sticker on the front hood and more! The new drone gives an amazingly close view of the action and the details, all thanks to the powerful lens and zoom capability! I hope you will enjoy the images and I know you'll be blown away by the video!

In the video introduction, we look back over almost 30 years of changes and progress in the area where Giga Texas is now built. I did this partly to put into context all the major construction sites going on today, including the west side new End-of-Line and new car staging/transportation lot under construction. By the way, Elon Musk has been "liking" my latest postings with all the details, so I guess he is pleased by my work and the progress around the site too!

Timestamps:

Drone flight footage & infographics: 5:18 to 30:25

Some other highlights from today's drone flight:

West side footing, plumbing, trenching, and earthwork continues for the new End-of-Line (EOL) facility and the new car staging and transportation lot. In fact, the pace of progress here is a standout compared to other construction around Giga Texas, which is really saying something..

On the southwest corner of the main factory, many wall panels have been removed on the ground and up to the second-floor window line, with a lot of plastic in place to help seal off the open sections.

On the southeast and east sides, we see the concrete intersection for River Road is now fully poured and white stain work on the southeast end of Stamping continues to make progress, working to the north.
The east side multi-level parking garage construction site continues to see a lot of earthwork to prepare the grade and it appears the outfall channel may be redirected.

New conduit trenching on the north end of the Megapack site and elsewhere, crews continue to install circuit breakers, the large transformer and wiring to all 68 of the Megapacks and their associated 34 transformers. At the south end of the electrical switchyard, crews continue to prepare forms for the roof of the underground vault.

On the east side of the battery cathode building, we see crews have assembled the two large platform items with equipment that arrived on my previous video. These have been assembled on top of the railing system that will be used to glide in this completed assembly inside the structure.

Also on the battery cathode east side, work continues at the crash track structure, with more rebar for concrete on the south end (covering the underground vault), more bands of the rounded roof installed and a new steel structure on the north end of the slab. The wade pit has now had all concrete walls poured.

North of the battery cathode plant, we see the area that once had a large hill of dirt now being converted into a deep excavated pit. The dirt is being redirected to the west side of the highway, and the deep pit they are creating is very curious. I'm not yet sure what to make of this development.

Wow! New drone with crisper contrast and higher resolution, plus we get the timelapse photos from 1995

Thanks Joe.
5:30. River road/Highway. Ground washing away at the Rip-rap around the surface drain inlet.
Right. River road. Gravel road base being removed.
7:50. Westside. New EOL. Concrete placed for the footings. Column pedestals to be formed up separately.
Sanitary sewer drains for an amenities block.
9:16. GA, highway berm side. Garden area fenced off. Might be trying to save these struggling trees.
9:49. Main Entrance. Portal Frames. Smallest frame has the full width of Stainless Steel.
Inside. Left. Scaffold being assembled above the stair.
10:29. GA, apron. Trailer load with ‘Alumanate’ panels. Panels are framed, so may be a manufactured modular system using Alumanate panels. A machine guard system for example. More panels at 10:49.
11:13. GA southwest, loading platform. Constructed a front porch.
15:38. Eastside contractors. Painters workshop. White pipes today.
16:32. Cathode east, ramp. Large delivery placed on the tracks. Each level is about height of a wall panel. Room for plenty more.
17:07. Crash Test Track. Channel continues past the subterranean structure.
Quonset roof spacer/locaters fitted the full length of the walls.
17:55. Crash Test Track. New steel structure at the north end, ‘The Launch Pad’.
18:42. Wade Pit. Pipes cast into the wall. Different drainage levels.
19:06. Cell Test Lab. Right. Sanitary sewer drains being installed. Another building perhaps.
21:23. Die Shop, south of. Right. Stack of Natural Gas pipes, black with a yellow stripe.
22:21. New switchyard/substation. Mega-Vault. Constructing the beam rebar, and formwork for another long opening. Precast vaults are marked ‘H-E-House’.
23:28. Monopoles. Curious that the conduits to the BESS switchyard between either end of the new switchyard/substation were placed through HDD bores under whatever is in the easement.
The conduits in the cables ducts between the Mega-Vault and the factory cross above whatever is in the easement. Possibly a different depth requirement between MV cabling and LV cabling.
24:46. BESS installation. 3 maybe 4 transformers have the cabling neatly finished in the cable trays. 30 to go. Plus, cabling from the transformers to the BESS Switchyard yet to be started.
25:01. BESS Contractors yard. Right. Cyclone wire mesh fence components in amongst the items.
25:40. Plastics, apon. Pellet delivery.
26:28. Casting east. Inside through the loading dock doors. Stack of steel getting smaller.
27:12. East Main Entrance. Right. 3 more Loading dock door openings cut in the wall panels.
28:07. EOL Superchargers. Cybertruck. Frunk liner in the rear bed. Better view in Joe’s photos.

That new drone sure seems sharper in it's output, especially with the chiller plant and the electrical sections where I was having trouble making out what was what.

Love the new drone resolution! I also liked the higher altitude views. It is a good way to show the location of work being done across the freeway. Thank you

Joe the video was superb today. I especially enjoyed the zooming capabilities of the new drone. Congratulations on your new purchase.

Hey Joe. Maybe someone has already mentioned this already regarding the “Crash Test” structure, but I think the remaining rebar section is for the collision barrier and the small Vault is for cameras and a clear laminated glass floor to film the undercarriage. The small building at the end might be the control room. Just my speculation.

Love the clarity of your new drone! As always you do a great job of covering everything GT!

I'll bet there are dozens and dozens of people who work there who watch your videos to see how their portion of the project is going.
The work you do is valuable. Keep it up! 😁

Not just the pace of some of these projects, but the sheer number of new projects just added in the past week is astounding. Construction vehicles are digging up for ground work in so many new places while so many small buildings get work done. All while the big buildings are all 3 continuing to get more work done. Cybertruck production might start before October, but full support facilities won't be ready until December or later. My biggest question now is "when/where is the next big building to produce the next-gen cars?"

Another great one. I love the DJI Air 3! Thanks again for the nice altitude overview on the west side. Fabulous image from the camera, super zoom. Dessie is probably having kittens with how much can be seen.
