Poor baby! So easy to tell that even when he was snapping he was just terrified and didn't understand what was happening. Good boy, Ice. It'll be okay.

The face acne can occur with cats too! Our senior kitty started developing bumps and issues on her chin, which she then scratched at and made way worse. After a couple of vet visits, they finally asked us what we fed her with... Of course it was just those simple plastic bowls from the store. Even with washing them in the dishwasher, they still had the bacteria buildup, so we swapped to stainless steel and it instantly got better. I had no idea that was even a thing!

I love how this woman educates folks on the pets she grooms...I love that part...it's not just watching a pet get cleaned up...but an education helps a lot, thank you Girl With The Dogs!

Starting at 4 months old, I trimmed my cane corso puppy's nail every day, just a tiny bit, often one nail a day. Now he's 10 months old and 130 lbs. I cut his nails once a week, not too much fuss anymore. Gotta start acclimatizing them early and often. Next step is the nail grinder. He freaks out when he hears it, we are on the step of turning the grinder on and just letting him get use to the sound. Going to be a process just like nail cutting!

When I studied abroad in Italy, one of the first things I asked our Italian teacher how to say was "Can I please pet your dog?" and to this day it's one of the few things I remember 😂 If anyone is wondering, it's "Per favore, posso accarezzare il tuo cane?"

he's so cute and such a well-behaved boy! It's easy for cane corsos to get aggressive because of their inborn protectiveness, but it seems like the owners are doing a great job keeping him calm and friendly. Even when he was clearly very scared he gave you plenty of warning and was more flight than fight.
On the topic of animal acne, if your animal gets spots on their face, don't assume it's acne. We thought my cat had cat acne, changed her bowls and it didn't get better. Turns out, she's allergic to gluten and needs grain-free food otherwise she gets an acne-like rash on her face and neck. Changed her food and no more rash, plus she stopped getting ear infections because an allergy weakens an animal's immune system and makes them prone to infection. Make sure to bring it up with your vet (which I'm sure Ice's owners did).

So many thanks for explaining the correct way to say, “Cane Corso”. We have a 4 year old male and it takes about 8 treats to complete a nail trim.

Cane corsos are stunning dogs, and he was a model citizen considering it was his first grooming.

Aww, he's gorgeous! There's a cane corso that lives near us, and he's finally stopped barking whenever we walk past. Now he just sits there and tilts his head like a "what u want". He's very cute!

I actually have a cat that used to have acne, I did research, saw it could be the plastic food/ water bowls & made the switch to stainless steel. Washed his face with just water & WHAMMO! No more acne!

In working with my Cane Corso, Willow, I found that though she's not really crazy about having her nails clipped, she really is averse to having her paws grabbed and held. When I clip her nails, I let her paws remain on the floor, and quickly (and carefully) clip while offering a treat or two during the whole ordeal :). Ice is a beautiful boy, who did well for his first grooming session!

Cool to see a Cane Corso with his ears intact.

All owners should start nail trimming as soon as the puppy comes home. Just taking tiny bits off. And progress from there. Owners should also start to brush/comb their dog every day or so (depending on their coat). If they aren’t sure how, they should call a groomer and set up an appointment to be taught the correct way.
They should also ask a vet tech to show them the various restraint holds that vet techs and vets need to do for care, and begin to do some every day.
This would prevent so many issues with their pup going to the groomer and vet.
I did this will all my dogs (Rotties) and never had issues.

He's only a pup yet, hopefully he won't think the nail clipping is his enemy as he gets older

I love that the owners kept his ears. It makes them look a lot cuter
