There is this book by Ute Scheub et al on the subject and they go into detail about fermentation processes, biochar and other things

Also the documentary "The Secret of El Dorado" is available on YouTube

Remember, even before the times of Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, there were multiple temples built for human sacrifice for their gods.
This particular civilisation was so vast yet so isolated, a single unknown disease outbreak wiped out most of them. This is the same reason why there are islands in the Indian Ocean the government prohibits from going and is regularly patrolled as the tribes are not only cannabis but also lack the immune system to literally stay alive after contact. Basically they've been in Covid like quarantine for a thousand years, possibly.

They say they don’t know how this was made, I always wondered if the inclusion of burnt soil, and various other things, probably dead animals, bugs, maybe even human remains had anything to do with how fertile their man made soil was.

The more you spent time in nature, the more you learn about it.

Its hard for modern people to undertand ancient civilization because they are so diferent to humas of that time. Very different ways to live, very differnt ways to think. When modern human recover its conection with nature they will begin to understand how everything works.

"DAvid the Good" on youtube claims he can make his own terra preta.

It doesn't seem that hard. I think he is right. Afterall, they made it.

Biochar to be made by modern humans I don’t see why we can’t infect new biochar with the ancient Mayan bacteria, effectively farming that bacteria and further spreading it all across not only South America, but North America, and maybe ship it around the world for a real new deal

Wonder why the ancient aliens crowd don't label this as another alien technology. It's always the big visible monuments that are somehow alien-made.

I wonder what would happen if you used this soil in wines at various otherwise inhospitable places for grapes

That soil is probably a product of many sacrifices.

I think it's pretty basic, some soils need lime adding to lower ther ph, or ash from wood is also somewhat caustic when water is added. Mix some wood ash with the soil and raise the firtility, the wood burns but the minerals don't so you're putting a high concentration of minerals into the soil.
In Ireland we used turf for heating for millennia, the ash from the fires mixed with lawn cuttings and left to rot makes fabulous compost to be mixed with soil.
Ash from coal fire will not be anywhere near as good.
