Brett Rypien's entire highlight film reel was this game unless you go back to Boise State. He still hasn't beaten Austin Reed for the QB 3 job. Tyson Bagent is QB 2 and his job is safe from one hit wonders.

Say what you will, but everyone is jumping on the Rypien train and talking about how he outshined Bagent. But what people aren't taking into account is that Bagent was only allowed one series of downs and almost all of those were designed run plays. It was as if they were looking more at the two running-backs than they were at Bagent whereas Rypien played almost the entire game and had a ton of chances to throw. Also, Rypien was playing against 2nd and 3rd string players and bad players can make bad players look good. The playing time between the backup QB's was totally unfair. And I guess it didn't hurt for Rypien to have one of the coaches as a friend either. And no, I'm neither friend nor family to Tyson Bagent.

Somebody in the comment said it. Buddy going against the third stream defense. Nothing was impressive about his performance. Great job to execute but that's about it for me

If Williams played and played as well as Rypien, we would be thrilled.

WB born Frankfurt Germany here. @3:35 lol at #41 busy bragging to teammates about the fumble but didn't see the ball was still being fought over.

Lot of hate in the comments for a HOF Game FFS.
Great to see another breakdown by Da German Bear.
Can’t wait to see how Caleb operates the Waldron Offense.

Nice game breakdown, I like the Bears to keep 3 QB's, Brett Rypien made some tight passes! And did a great job of looking off the Strong Safety! Collin Johnson made nice catches minus the drop on the out pattern! And a great throw by Rypien! That was a dart! I would find a place for Brett Rypien on the Rooster! He is cut from good football stock!

It's not pronounced "Ripeean" it's pronounced "Rippen". His uncle played for the Redskins.

I think Tyson bagent took in some of Justin’s Characteristics or you know what I mean hopefully. I think he’s having a hard time processing through his reads like Justin which makes him run first sometimes or ready to dump off unlike Justin(Justin just run first). I like Tyson but he needs to go through all of his reads and work on arm strength to feel comfortable to make the throws he needs to when he sees a good read. I think he just not confident enough on some reads. When Tyson gets a stronger arm he could be a playmaking slinger. Rypien looked like Brock Purdy out there and looked sharp and went through his reads fast and delivered great balls. I think one more game like that deserves the qb2 job or at least qb3.

Dude. It’s pronounced “rippin” not “ripkin”.

Typical Bear commentary by creating a contrived controversy between Tyson and Rypien. First of all, Tyson has not even been given a chance to play save one set of downs. Secondly, Rypien plays one game against the 3 string and now he is all world. Most of the same folks who jumped all over Justin are now after Tyson. Last year Tyson did not have much of a chance to developed since according to the Bear watchers no it all's the line was horrible. Which was the reason given for Fields poor showing. And yet Tyson who was thrown into the same offensive morass for some reason was supposed to do everything right, Also, his coach in college said he has an arm. Not being given the time was the reason some of his throws were weak or off the mark. Before we give Rypien the 2 string job maybe we should let the preseason play out. But, oh wait, if that were to happen some folks would lack a subject to listen to themselves talk.
