Federal health officials discuss Canada's approval of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine – December 9, 2020

Federal health officials hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to provide an update on Health Canada's approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Speaking with reporters are Dr. Supriya Sharma, a senior medical advisor with Health Canada, and Dr. Marc Berthiaume, the director of the Bureau of Medical Science at Health Canada. This is the first COVID-19 vaccine to be approved for use in Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on December 7 that Canada would be receiving up to 249,000 of its initial doses of the vaccine this month.
