This classic IBM Model F keyboard from my IBM 5155 luggable PC is in need of attention.

The keyboard and computer suffered some water damage during a flood at my workplace.
Some of the keys no longer respond so its time for disassembly and cleaning.

I had a heck of a time with this getting that dang back plate back on!!!! At about 31:40. Get about 8 of those spring loaded finger clamps and place then to the right of the metal tabs to hold the plate down. Like you said place that black colored lip against the edge of a table/bench what ever. Then GENTLY tap the right edge of that bottom plate with a small hammer. It does help to have a second person to either hold the assembly or do the tapping.

That's fantastic to think that individual process build operations were signed for by an actual person! Imagine that happening today! Also what's refurbishable today? Things need to be like this to save re-cycling.

Retrospective Greta video btw just restored my IBM 1983 Model F xt. Soarer's Converter will only keep Nkro on the Model F variant's they where full Nkro stock before the converter. Buying or building Converter for the Model M any year only has what they call 2 key press rollover so even if you add the converter it will not it ad Full key roll over. It is how they where made being membrane keyboards.Where as the at xt portable model F capacitive switches. So long story short is you only want to type the Model M is fine. But is you would like to game & type in my opinion 99.5% Better keyboard the Model F is the one you want. Oh & nice cat :) At lest from what i have read if this do work for your sons Model m please let me thanks for your time stay safe out there.
