Three Filipinos invented an amazing lamp where it can have 8 hours of light just by using a glass of water and two tablespoon of salt. It also run in sea water, than means people live near in the ocean can use the lamp immediately.

This lamp is called Salt Light, there's no need to worry about if there is an accident because this has no flammable components that could start a fire. Making it a safer alternative to a kerosene-fed lamp that were being used by a lot of Filipino that don't have electricity. This lamp is environment friendly because it does not emit harmful gases.

If you have low on battery phone, this invention has an emergency USB port where you can charge your mobile phone through it's port.

The inventors of this Lamp are siblings Aisa Mijeno, a computer engineer and her brother Raplh Mijeno and the other is Oscar Bryan Magtibay.

They invented this lamp to help the less fortunate people who don't have electricity in their household.

Please do share this amazing video.

kung ito'y gagawan ng malaking bersyon na pwedeng power plant napakalaking halaga ang ibababa sa singil sa kuryente..mas mainam pa kesa solar power na pagkamahal

would love if there was some way you could use the voice of a human so as to make us feel less like we are being taken over by robots

Great Idea! Hopefully we can soon move to steam powered cars as well! Clean and green because they run off of Water!

5 years ago, and this the first ive heard of it, and not everywhere? Criminal, whats wrong with the world that excellent inventions like this are not supported and developed!???

I second the people saying that "invented" is not the right term. However, I salute her for making this a 'real product' that can be used by Filipinos who has no access in electricity. In the near future, I believe, this will be in consumer's market.

I always admired Filipinos for the way they look out for each other. We have got so much to learn from them.

I could not find cost projection for this product so I did some googling. Note that these are very rough estimates and posted here only for discussion.

The magnesium rod which must be imported costs about $2.45 (about 128PHP before customs tax). It lasts for 9 days if used continuously so if used for 12 hours the rod should last for 18 days, assuming it does not continue to degrade by cleaning it everyday.

At a daily cost of 7PHP the monthly cost is about 210PHP for a single lamp. If your house needs 4 lamps the cost would be around 840PHP (16USD) per month.

But what if the rod continues to corrode?

Not cheap in my opinion but then the price of electricity depends on where you live. And considering the intent of the "inventors" their product is for use in areas without power.

Sources:
Green House Salt Water Powered LED Lantern from Japan, 73USD (about 3, 800PHP).

It's the concept of electrode battery in chemistry, the movement of electrons from anion (salts). But is it really sustainable? You have to use metal plates (cathode and anode), which can errode and cost something too.

(INVENTOR) deffinition Individual who is the first to develop or manufacturer something. An inventor may invent something totally from scratch or may build upon an already established foundation. "Alexander Graham Bell has been accredited with the invention of the telephone, but a number of other inventors suggested that Bell simply used their developed prototypes to create a working telephone."

Actually the idea has been around for a while however they may be the first in their area to make the claim. I was in East Africa, which has a abundance of salt, and the implications of using it for free power was at the very least known by me, and there were several instances on the web, now commercialized to my knowledge, the needs are so plentiful and solution lie about not seem by so many. This is a good step, at underdeveloped locations solving their own issues. This is a positive step and we as humans should embrace any reusable and free energy sources and solutions.

Well done. How much is its light in term of voltage? Have you started its production? How much it costs? Where can we see the Demo?
Congratulation again.
