A lot of people think that this update will kill bedwars, so I wanted to try and argue the other side and talk about why it's actually a good thing, although at this point I'm not sure whether I think it's good or bad. i havent actually played since the update but i really wanna try because normal bedwars has always been so boring for me due to it being way too easy. now with the matchmaking, it could be a lot more fun

I played this game for about 3+ years now and I have never once cared about stats and I actually get excited to go against other good players. Whenever people talk about stats I used to think "oh it's just a bunch of numbers It doesn't really mean anything but they must be really good if they can get 50 win streaks".


But NOW I learn that the meaning of "win streaking" is actually SO, SO DISTORED And I look at the bedwars community like a disappointed father. If your definition of win streaking is only going against unskilled players your win streak is nothing but a number.

The point of win streaking is to WIN CONSECUTIVELY AGAINST ANY GAME THROWN AT YOU. That's what makes it so impressive, When you see someone with a win streak that's the mark of an undefeated player who's gone through tough, high stake battles and with with sheer will, skill, and a bit of luck they were able to achieve that goal. It's like being a soccer player and being like "oh I'm undefeated this year 0-100 over 9 months" and then their like OMG SO COOL WHO DID YOU PLAY AGAINST? Then they go like "elementary school kids" like BRUH


WHICH IS WHY IM SO GLAD THIS UPDATE IS NERFING FOLDING NOW WIN STREAKS CAN ACTUALLY MEAN SOMETHING!

Definetly true, i was supporting the update since they came out, im a ranked and nofolding player so yeah i think my perspective is similar to Banjee's. The thing is we don't care about winstreaking and fkdr stuff, what we want is the server to be alive and hopefully get more new people to play the server. Hypixel is popular, literally everyone who players minecraft knows hypixel and most of them played it or are playing rn. So I think hypixel's main focus should ofc be keeping the newbies playing the game. And a official ranked mode of bedwars or queueing based on fkdr or elo or smth would be benefitial too imo.
I think Hypixel should add a 1.21 survival mode which would atract millions of survival enjoyers to the game, and also make a bedrock server since the ratio of java and bedrock player is 1:9 or smth, by advertising in the bedrock server, the java server would potentially benefits.
Overall what I recommended is focus on new players' gameplay more(imo those fkdr grinders and ws grinders are like genshin players or even worse... Whats the point of playing a competitive game when the games are not competitive and ur just bullying noobs over and over again just for a little increasing of fkdr/ws)

unrelated: how does the player head show the bedwars level? what mod/setting? i use level-head mod on blc but it shows the hypixel level, not the bedwars stars, how to do that?

Good point, most people probably will not agree but it is very valid. Although I would like to see the names of players in the pregame lobby, I get that it is better for the server as a whole. Now, about the skill-based matchmaking, I'm pretty sure it is in place. Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as the queue doesn't take longer than 30 seconds to start, all players will be around the same star level. However, if the queue takes longer than 30 seconds (which is extremely common) any star player is then able to join the game. Overall, I think that while this update may have been in part to stop queue dodging, in the bigger picture I think they wanted to queue games faster (which queue dodging affects). EVERYONE SUBSCRIBE TO THE BEST YOUTUBER!

As someone who’s an 1000 star with pretty mid stats, that just casually plays with friends. I honestly didn’t feel anything different about the queues, except like a slight increase in snipers and cheaters.I hardly ever used overlays, but occasionally I would use an overlays to just leave the easy queue to fight some sweats cause honestly sweaty games are fun every now and then.
