Emergencies in Banking and Finance Disputes – Commercial and Investment Arbitration Perspectives

Despite the wide array of cases and the benefits of arbitration for the resolution of financial disputes, financial institutions have in the past opted for litigation in major centers, such as London and New York. However, the trend has seemed to change recently, especially in the wake of the financial crisis of 2008, which has prompted the parties to view arbitration as a viable alternative for litigation. Therefore, given the current pandemic and the potential for a financial crisis that could follow, the panellists will discuss how the issue of emergency is viewed in the context of commercial and investment arbitration.
