Don't often comment on videos but wanted to in this case. I have been watching these series for a while and I have learned more from you than reading the actual documentation. I really enjoy how you teach. Thank you for making these!

Just want to say thank you for your opnsense videos. Didn’t know anything about opnsense. Now brought a 4 x 2.5gb mini PC and set it up as my router. All working great, thanks

To remember the difference between block and reject I find it helps to think of it like you are texting someone. If they block you, you get nothing back. If they reject you, that means they actively told you they don't want to talk to you.

Great Video, I have been using pfsense plus with the 4100 netgate but I need to create another router at a second home and wanted to connect them with tailscale. this keeps me from buying another netgate router. I can just buy a tiny pc and set it up as a router with opnsense and do everything with it. I use port forward a lot but never quite fully understood the source/destination and this was my ah ha moment. i just assumed using the interface as wan assumed it was coming from wan ip but adding it make sense now.

okay. im struggling getting RDP to work via internet (i have several work-at-home employees). I port forwarded WAN on the port i wanted (for demo purposes, i used as the destination and redirected to my terminal server on the rdp port. i cannot connect from outside the network.

Why is the port forwarding rule listed as a "linked rule"? What is the rule linked to?

Thank you for sharing the information! It would be also good if you can share the information more about the Protocol types, advance features, and port range by example you can give.

Please help me understand the default rule here: It's listed as a "No redirect" rule, which I read as "whatever other rules are in place in this list, do not accept redirection of 80 and 443 for traffic coming from the LAN". The way it's explained in this video it sounds more like a firewall rule, rather than a anti-port-forward rule. Can someone clarify?

please explain the LINKED vs NOT LINKED.. because i found that my port forwarding is NOT working unless you change the setting to PASS. not linked. but the icon changes to a LINKED icon.. not a PLAY BUTTON type. i find that very weird. its very confusing because they are NOT LINKED to other FORWARD RULES yet it showes they are linked.. if i change the setting to NONE, then the play button shows but the port forward no longer works
