I little boy's dream comes true when he gets an opportunity to purchase his Grandfathers 1942 Fairchild PT19. He will begin his journey of a restoration starting with seeing it for the first time in years. We drive from North Dakota to Deer Park Washington to pick it up and bring it home. Today is the beginning of a very special adventure. The plane has been in his family since the day Granddad purchased it as Army Surplus in 1953. It was sold out of the family and that is when we found out just 11 days after it was sold. We jumped on it immediately and purchased it right back. We are so happy to be able to preserve this piece of family history. Thank you for your interest in a little War bird story.

Let's reconnect. Our 1942 PT19A restoration is coming along, albeit more slowly than we'd hope.

The smile on Shawn's face when he is in the plane says it all. Congratulations and I look forward to watching this journey!

I'm trying to preserve this beautiful aircraft in digital form and wow.. Speechless! Will be keeping a close eye to this! Congratulations for conquering this beauty back!
PS: That gentleman in question also seemed very passionate about it. Says a lot about the feelings this old bird brings to anyone around it!
