Aka Confirmation Bias.

Your analogy is backwards. People steam at the 30% chance of the opponent hitting, over their 70% chance to hold due to their own confirmation bias. It's not that they forget they hold 70% of the time, they feel to be entitled to hold 100% of the time due to their bias.

Counting the hits & disregarding the misses is also known as "The Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy", as in "I hit 50 bullseyes dead center today, " (out of 500 shots).
