URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The University of Illinois is sorting through a record number of first-year applications. Admissions officials said people living in Illinois, those out of state, and international applications all went up for the coming fall.
The growing number of potential students raises questions about housing, however. This school year’s record-breaking freshman class made it difficult for every student to have a room when people arrived on campus this past fall.
University Housing Official Chris Axtman-Barker said this year’s 9008 first-years and the number of upperclassmen who requested to live in on-campus housing is what caused problems.
