COBB Tuning - 2015 WRX Rev Hang Demo

For 2015, Subaru introduced a complete overhaul of the WRX! There are some awesome new changes, like direct injection, as well as some that aren't too driver friendly. Subaru's new "Rev Hang" logic seems to top the list of complaints. Luckily though, COBB is hard at work coming up with a solution!

What is Rev Hang?

When you are in gear and revving high into the RPM range, in all previous WRXs, pressing in the clutch would result in the RPMs quickly falling. With this new "feature," the RPM stays constant for a bit and slowly falls.

Why did Subaru do this?

The factory has a lot of considerations but our best guess is to aid in rev matching.

Rev matching sounds good. Why is this bad?

This isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, many car enthusiasts are purists and feel the only inputs the car should be considering, especially when it comes to throttle, come only from the driver. We tend to agree!

I have a 2023 WRX now that thankfully doesn't have rev hang but I had a 2020 Si Coupe before the WRX that had terrible rev hang. Drove me absolutely bonkers. Made me hate the car because of it. I love my WRX and a huge reason for that is no rev hang. Glad Subaru fixed this in the newer models. It really kills the driving experience in vehicles. I'm glad I didn't go with the previous generation WRX.

My ralliart sports mode has the rpms hang at 3k in turbo power band.. With my stage 2 tune it pretty quick

I have a focus st that rev hangs. if I shift at slow speeds the Rev hang causes the car to jump forward. very dangerous if you don't know what your doing.

Hi there, I flashed the Stage 1 93 octane off the shelf map on my car and I still have the rev hang. It's slightly less than the stock tune, but it's very much there. Is there anything further I can do to get rid of it? Thanks.

Theres a new stock ECU flash that will nearly eliminate this. No need to void your warranty for some access port

Why do cars have rev hang ? I don't understand

NO idea why the cars just didn't ship like this from the factory, jesus christ. It's like there's a rule in car manufacturing that you HAVE to ship a car with at least one very annoying and boneheaded feature.
