It's amazing that these carpenters, artists, sculptors, masons and others are able to utilize their specialized skills to restore/build such an magnificent building. It's just so rare these days for something of this size to be constructed by techniques that are in danger of being forgotten due to modern technology and the consistent rush to find a faster and cheaper way to do things. Yes, they could have prefabricated every bit of this, and had it done is much less time, but the love and dedication poured into the task can never be replicated by a machine.
Hopefully, this will ignite a desire in the hearts of many young people to pursue these trades and keep these techniques alive for many more generations.

The one silver lining to the disaster is the fact that these immensely skilled craftspeople have a massive audience watching just how important their skills and hard work are. Keeping these traditional building methods alive and being able to perform sympathetic restorations and rebuilds.

I was horrified at what some architects wanted to do to this beautiful cathedral after the fire. I am so glad it is being restored back to its original beauty.

According to the old "Compagnons du Devoir " tradition, the youngest carpenter (still an apprentice) hangs the final bouquet. The "Compagnons du Devoir" is a French medieval guild of craftsmen and artisans, a traditional mentoring network through which to learn a trade while developing character by experiencing community life and travelling (nothing to do with the famous cycling competition). This young carpenter is still doing his apprenticeship (5 years) with masters around France.

Putting a wreath, or flowers, or a pine tree on the building is a symbol that the framing has been completed, and now the construction effort turns to finishing the building (i.e. finishing the cladding, putting the roof on, painting adding decorative elements)

Congratulations to everyone involved. It's wonderful to see so many people from across the world contributing to this restoration. Although it was a tragedy to see the fire it's inspiring to see the phoenix rising from the ashes! Thank you for your work and for this video!

I've only been to Paris once with my girlfriend. The morning of the day I proposed to her, we had espressos outside a little cafe across the street from Notre Dame. It was an awesome sight and the perfect backdrop. That was 17 years ago now. Our hearts broke as my wife and I watched it burn in 2019. It truly wonderful to see people from around the world come together to restore such a magnificent building!

Thank you to all who saved Notre Dame and her treasures, and to all who are rebuilding her. Financially and physically.

My French ancestors left France several centuries ago but I cried as Notre Dame burned. It makes the spirit soar to see it rise again! History lives.

I'm an atheist, but I'm happy to see this beautiful cathedral being rebuilt. I was heartbroken to see it burning.

It is SO cool to see Mr. Peter Henrikson, the Timber Framer from Minnesota, wearing a Stormy Kromer Cap. This is so American. I am happy that generous, and highly skilled Americans, went to France to help in rebuilding this great cathedral. Thanks Mr. Peter Henrikson, and it is also great you are wearing a Michigan made Stormy Kromer Cap. Doctor George Whitehead
