A step forward Monday to get Metro Detroiters up north by train; Developers were just given money to study what it would take to get a passenger rail line up and running. It would connect Detroit and Ann Arbor to Traverse City and Petosky with stops along this route.

5 years? Ya gotta be a lot faster than that, these days. I have seen mega-projects completed faster.

You understand that concrete sleepers, and rails and hardware for modern passenger rail, are not laid by hand anymore, right? Track can be laid faster than a concrete road can be built.

If the track was still in place to Mackinac City, to let people have access to Mackinac Island, maybe--- but this is just a cater to wealthy folks that go to T.C. and Petosky.

Lol hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, the proposed route isnt gonna have the ridership because most of the proposed route is nothing but small communities with really nothing to offer anyone so why build something that wont make money?

Tracks are much improved now and new ballast and ties are in place. Still need $$ millions though for it to happen. Sadly, unlikely and if it ever does probably won't last long. Reality stinks...

Michigan still in the dark ages when it comes to public transportation. Surprised they didn't try a Horse and Buggy system.🤭
