Such an awesome game, a fresh breath of air from Sonic and Mario!
Bloody shame they've done little with Aero lately. 😢 😢 😢

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 is a video game developed by Iguara Entertainment, and published by Sunsoft in 1994. It is the sequel of Aero the Acro-Bat and was released for the Sega Genesis first in April then for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in November. The Super NES version was released on the Wii Virtual Console in the PAL region on August 6, 2010 and in North America on September 20, 2010. David Siller planned to part and remake the game for Game Boy Advance in 2002, but then cancelled it in favor of original titles. The game is dedicated to famed Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna, who died in a car crash during a Grand Prix. The story starts directly after the events of the original game, where Aero had knocked Edgar Ektor off of the highest tower of his Museum of Horrors. After knocking him off, Aero leaves to explore Ektor's museum, finding a magician's box which brings him to an ancient castle. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Aero, Ektor's henchman Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel manages to save him before he hits the ground, and tells Zero to prepare a 'Plan B.'

Ah, yes, despite being made on the same system, I can see quite a few improvements this game made over the original, including the sound design and the general smoothness of Aero's animations (As well as the obvious improvements of the graphics in general. Even in Bell Castle, you can see that they put a lot of work into the shading.).

The booming "WELCOME" reminds me of the shopkeeper in Cuphead.

Was really hoping that you'd manage to get 100% of all the Ektor's Deal bonus games; the earliest versions are easy, but in later versions, it's not just the cup switching that gets faster, but the fact that he can "teleport" the position of any item between cups, too.

Of course, one can use savestates (on an emulator) to cheat by randomly choosing which cup might have the extra life, but if you have a sharp eye, you might be able to spot the correct cup a fair bit.

It's interesting how much Aero the Acrobat was made to chase the Sonic trend, yet not only does he stabd out on his own butbthe game has a dustinct style such as Disney-like animations and actual cutscenes with dialogue.

Funnily enough, this game and Donkey Kong Country came out the year I was born.

Boardin Zone, Act 2 had the best music in the game. It was so good that they couldn't make a decent facsimile of it for the Mega Drive version and had to make an entirely different tune (which ended up being used for Boardin Zone, Act 1 in that version).

The Snes version has better graphics than the MD version but I don't know if the gameplay is better. Been a while. Had no idea this game was dedicated to Ayrton Senna.
