There are no ordinary careers in the Civil Service and no ordinary civil servants.

Will Gazzard joined the Civil Service Fast Track Apprenticeship Scheme from school. He's since gone on to work on projects putting statues into Parliament Square and the Rugby World Cup 2015.

This is the kind of wet behind the ears student, with no experience whatsoever, they're recruiting for law enforcement / military esq roles within rhe Crown/civil service. The people they should be aiming to recruit are former military or police, yet they make it as difficult as possible for people of this background to apply. I know this because I am a current employee of the civil / Crown service and I am sick and tired of having to recruit, not based on merit, but on social standing, race and ethnicity. I have actually and might I say, reluctantly take part in having to offer a specific job, to someone of a particular religion, even when he scored way beneath those of a traditional British culture. On this occasion I took my concerns to rhe grade 7 who was the recruitment manager and I was told in no uncertain terms, that to question this based on race, would be considered racist and my job and clearance would then be at risk. What goes on behind the closed doors of depts like the Home Office, would certainly raise some eyebrows and the sad thing is, the person that ended up getting this job, lasted 6 months because his performance was so poor, so another recruitment campaign had to be inaugurated, costing the tax payer more money. Its ridiculous.
There is also a culture of bullying within the Home Office. I stuck up for a chap who was an AO and was staying late every night, to do rhe work of his superior, an EO (executive officer). I brought this to the attention of rhe grade 7 and having brought in several people at different intervals to try and change my mind and stop rocking the proverbial boat, I was then suspended for an apparent issue with my clearance. I was then sent to Marsham St and Thames House for security interview, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with my clearance, but I was there to be interviewed for alleged links to the EDL, which is ridiculous because I'm not of Caucasian origin. This was all.orchastrated by the grade 7 who had painted a target on my back. So a long story short, once they were satisfied that I was in the clear, they wrote an email to my boss saying I could return to work. My boss didn't like this and refused to allow me back to work and then pulled another reason out of the hat, which regarded my mental health. This woman tried every trick in the book to get rid of me, simply because I threatened to rock their boat. Suffice to say that I won, but for anyone thinking of joining the civil service, think long and hard, because if you pick the wrong dept and you're not prepared to stand by and put up with hideous working environments, with horrible and down right nasty individuals, who will abuse their power to target you if you dare to cross them, think again!
You have literally children no older than early 20's in very senior positions, who, like one would expect of someone that young, abuse their power, as it goes to their heads.
I could write a book on this, but of course they're protected my the OSA Official secrets act.

This kid seems very nice and well spoken the only thing is his 20 in this video yet has grey hair on the sides... That tells you a bit about this type of job.
