About the Artist
"This work was created in response to the huge shift in consciousness that humanity is experiencing due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. The skull refers to the death all around us, our own, our friends and family extending to people throughout the world. The vintage image of children dancing recall the rhyme, "ring around the rosie, pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes, all fall down. This is a historical reference to the bubonic plague. The new constricted reality and fear of infection or death which we face more than ever also inspires me to look at the possibility and promise of mind expanding and ritualistic traditions including peyote, magic mushrooms, marijuana and LSD. These substances under the best circumstances may provide a glimpse into a healing consciousness and loss of ego which seems appropriate for this time."
