PHYS2113 2023 Video 14 -- Poisson Brackets

This lecture is the fourth in a series of four on Hamiltonian mechanics. We look at the concept of Poisson brackets in Hamiltonian mechanics and show that the time-dependence of a some phase space function f is related directly to the Poisson bracket of f and the Hamiltonian H. We finish by pointing out the direct connections to commutator brackets in quantum mechanics and the quantum equivalent of Hamilton's equation.
