Verdict: Jim James nails his first solo effort. Strongly recommended.

Overview: Jim James' debut as a solo artist, Regions of Light and Sound of God, is a polished, ambitious endeavor that explores an eclectic mix of sounds and musical styles. James' vocals are as good as ever, as is his songwriting. This record also presented the sound with a pristine production that allowed us to hear every detail in the sound. The usage of electric guitars and string elements helped separate this from My Morning Jacket. Overall, we really liked the variety of sounds Jim James presented on this record and particularly enjoyed how he was able to tie them all together with an album concept and themed lyrics.

My favorite thing Jim James has ever done has got to be Z. Just a spectacular album.

The first track sounded kind of like Limit to Your Love by James Blake

Funny that you compare it to Making Mirrors & both albums have a song called State of the Art...
