Thank you, Brian. The tackle industry has really expanded the definition of "Ned rig" in my opinion, but I think of it as the rig Ned Kehde himself talked about in his video on the subject: A light (under 1/8 oz was what I think he said) jighead and a small 3-inch-ish or less plain plastic. Anything else might catch fish, but it's not a Ned rig in my opinion - no matter what is written on the bag. In broad terms, I think that a shakey head is designed to be fished weedless, a Ned is not. Thanks again!

I’ve been using Zoom Trick Worms on a shakey head. The way they slither down when you twitch them is the biggest difference I see from it and a traditional Ned rig.

Hey Brian.
I just started fishing with my son, when he was much younger I would take him and I would read while he fished.
Now that we are both older(me 65) I really am excited to spend more time looking for the staright line!!!.
I really appreciate your time you spend on the videos. We are located along the Susquehanns River in Pa.
One of the greatest fisheries for the mighty smallmouth.
I bought a kayak and am excited to get out there .
Again thanks for sharing yoiur knowledge

I jumped on your SMH jig head and worms early and had to search all over because they sold out so fast, and I am so glad I did…they’re perfect to me because the head design and the bait keeper, and of course for ZMAN elaztech. ❤

Been rigging a torn in half Senko with a rig I’ve been calling the San Marcos rig. Some call it a modified Ned but it’s weightless with an EWG so it doesn’t stand straight up. It falls like wacky but then I can fish it more like a swim bait. Been highly effective on the river I fish.. usually catch 15+ fish every time I go out.

Thank you sir. Best video I’ve seen explaining the Ned rig. Never been fan of the Ned but fishing had been tough. Used it today and I finally got the skunk off 😂

Ned rig is the head to hook size balance and 3" floating baits for the vertical presentation.

You are the best at breaking things down and making clean delineations that can be freeing for me.

I know this is a older post, but I just started using the ned rigs and I don't know if I'll ever use anymore of my shakeyheads. These zman ned rigs are the deal 🙏🕊😎🎣👍

When i was a kid we called it an “egg sac rig” where you tear off the head end down to the egg sack portion of a plastic worm and usually rig that up weightless on a hook or sometimes use the jig head from a beetle spin. Now it’s a “ned rig”.

BLat you are the pro so I will aqueous to your statement of a ned rig is 3" and under. However I use 4" Zman punch craws or 3"Chigger Craws from Berkley on either a 1/8 or a 3/16 Ned head and do quite well. I still call that ned rig fishing but it is what it is right.
Thanks for the Video as always

I haven’t thrown a ned before. I have thrown a shaky head. I’m going give it a try soon.
Thanks for the video!

Great video - just goes to show that matching size/action to bite is more important than a name of a rig system … 😜

Not going to lie. I use some regular old cheap leadheads for shakeyheads. I prefer a 90 degree bend over a 60 at the line tie. Not a fan of the z-man material. They are indestructible except never stay separated in the package and weld together easily. A trd glob isn’t nearly as effective. Lol I do like the Ned heads and the different size hooks available though. I use them with everything from senkos to LC helgies and even use ones with a weed guard with hula grubs for smallmouth.
