If they do not do the Emperor’s new groove izms roller coaster in villains land, Disney will waste an amazing opportunity!

You lost me at "price increases." It was too expensive 5 years ago.

Hotel cancellations: the one time (besides COVID) that we had to cancel a trip, it was only a few days before we were supposed to leave. It's a sad reason, but Disney has had such a bad rep in the last few years that I like to share two times, actually, that they were absolutely amazing to us.

This is a little lengthy. You've been warned.

We always take our annual trip in January, usually starting right after Marathon Weekend. My sister, 41, had been battling breast cancer but she'd had her chemo, the tumor had responded to it really well, she got the mastectomy, and she was preparing to start radiation right after Christmas and her prognosis was good. She insisted that we still go because she would be fine; she was almost to the finish line and we had done so much for her she wanted us to go have fun.

A few days after Christmas, she crashed out of nowhere. Not only had the tumor suddenly come back, it had metaphorically exploded, spreading to her liver, lungs, bones, and brain. Starting chemo back up would have given her maybe three more months, but she would have been so miserably sick that it would have been cruel. The first round of chemo had been horrific on its own.

We had to make the decision for her because she was no longer able to make her own medical decisions due to lack of oxygen to her brain from the cancer spreading, and after agonizing over it with her doctors, we chose to take her back to our parents' house instead of her apartment under home hospice care (there is a special place in heaven for hospice care workers, my _god_ 😩).

The cancer was so aggressive that she went from walking and talking to catatonic to gone within only four days. It was unreal, and it was traumatic to witness.

She passed away four days before we were due to leave. We hadn't cancelled because _of course_ we hadn't thought about that! We were focused on her.

We called Disney to cancel our trip three days before we were supposed to leave. We were staying with DVC points. We had annual passes that would renew in the spring so there was no problem with tickets, but we were prepared to lose a huge chunk if not all of our points for that trip. We _should_ have.

When we told the DVC rep what had happened, he put us on hold so he could talk to one of his higher ups about the situation since it was extraordinary, being the loss of a child (it doesn't matter how old you get, you're still your parents' baby).

After about ten minutes the rep came back and told us they were refunding ALL of our points, they wouldn't have any restrictions on them, and they were so, so sorry for our loss. It was one of the few _good_ things that happened during that time.

The other thing Disney was amazing to us for was our annual passes. We ended up rescheduling our trip to that May before school let out for the summer, and we planned on renewing our passes at guest services when we got there.

Again, because of everything that had happened, we hadn't realized that we had missed the renewal window for our passes so it was going to cost a lot more.

We explained what had happened to the guest services cast member, to which he expressed his condolences and how awful that was, he was so sorry to hear that. Then he said, "Actually, wait, let me check on something." before typing on his computer, and then excusing himself to speak to his manager.

He came back a few minutes later and said "Actually, good news! Due to [whatever celebration they'd had going on at the time], your passes were actually good for 14 months instead of 12! You can still renew them!😄"

A friend of mine was working in vacation planning at WDW at the time, and when I told her the story she asked if the CM's name was Bill. I said I didn't remember. The next day she told me, "That was actually my boyfriend that you talked to; he told me about y'all! There IS no promotion like that going on. He asked his manager if he could pull strings for you guys because of your situation."

Sorry for the novel, but hopefully it's a little uplifting to hear a couple positive stories from Disney management.

They should retheme that racetrack in Tomorrowland to Cars. That would make more sense.

11:40 WD’s surviving family are very vocally opposing this idea, they’re really not hot on the idea of the feeling the memory of their grandpa getting defiled, reduced to a Chuck E Cheese bot. And to see corporate decide to go ahead and do it anyway reminds me of Gusteau’s image and legacy getting cheapened and exploited in Ratatouille 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cars and the frontier have NOTHING to do with each other. If you want to do something with cars, get rid of that noisy, smelly, polluting Tomorrowland Speedway. It currently has nothing to do with “tomorrow” and there’s lots of room over there for more than one rides. Chances for futuristic updates galore.

The geology for the new Cars area makes sense if you have visited Colorado. Think about the types of rocks around areas like Red Rocks Amphitheater and how close they are to the highest mountain peaks. It will all fit together nicely.

I am so very excited for the Encanto ride (I know, it won't be open next year but I can't wait)! Also, the Disney Treasure. A Haunted Mansion Parlor?? Um, yes please!! 👻😍

This is gonna be a very niche comment but the Pirates tavern looks a lot like the ones from Sea of Thieves!

Seeing as they did a POTC addition for the game I’d love if they took some inspiration from that, those taverns look so cosy and detailed.

Many of the things announced at d23 will not happen anytime soon. Currently only Universal is actually getting things done.

For the cars land in Magic Kingdom, I feel like it should belong somewhere in tomorrowland. why take away all that water and Tom Sawyer Island I can’t imagine how much the car area would clash with the world around it

They destroy Tom Sayer island that Walt worked so hard on to set the ambiance and theme of that area for cars of all things which DOES NOT FIT in anyway that area or anything in the Magic kingdom, my family and I are finally DONE WITH DISNEY. We go once every year sometimes twice for over 22 years. No More. They are moving faster and faster AWAY from Walt’s visions faster than a Mickey head ice cream melting in Florida heat. Just like the Contemporary Resort changing their time tested looks (contemporary obviously) to some cheesy cheaply looking splash of Incredibles all over (love the Incredibles by the way but not as a theme for the Contemporary). What the heck does that cartoon have anything to do with the original Disney Magic kingdom theme, Mickey, Peter Pan, Snow White etc. image ANYTHING. Looks absolutely horrid and completely takes you out of the feeling of the hotel. We quit staying there by the way. They seem to continually spit on Walt’s grave and vision every time we turn around over the past decade. Trying to “reimagine” his vision. I also hear Iger wants to redo Liberty Square. Don’t want that “Americana” image anymore huh, too patriotic for them and their current direction?? Walt would have heads on a platter. Disney leadership is off the rails and they’re failures of late with their customers/base show. They want to compete soooo hard for the almighty $ with Universal that they will destroy all that has worked all these generations in order to do so. In the end they will be left with a big pile of mess not resembling either and loosing the true lifelong fans. Cars etc can so easily be placed in soooo many other spots at Hollywood or even Epcot that and would properly fit in so ask yourself why they choose to destroy history.

The reason there r a lot of new attractions is like she said: “ PRICE INCREASE “ 😮 what else is new I feel when Walt passed, his dream of a better Disney passed with him. No one now or ever will have that “MAGIC TOUCH” or imagination like Walt did.

When I saw D23, I was like what they just put in the Cars show over by R n R in Hollywood Studios . Why are they changing Tom Sawyer Island? And the Indiana Jones thing, why were they putting that in AK, when they already have a show in Hollywood Studios. So questions are, Are they moving the fairly new cars show? Are they moving Indiana Jones stunt show to AK? Or Are they just now going helter skelter all over the place.

I’ve never been to DinoLand, but what I’m really eyeballing over there is the dino dig treat thing. I’m planning on going to Animal Kingdom either at the near end of this year or the beginning of next year. I wonder how that’ll be.
