Mispronounciation is fine in my book. You never know words until you're taught. Especially if they dont follow the same phonetic sounds you're used to in your native language.

That guy's questions are fair though

He's ignorant, but he's very polite about it

Anybody trying respectfully is fine in my book.
We all must learn, after all.

Had a lady make a big deal about her having celiacs disease but then ordered breaded shrimp with a steak.

When you mentioned bread, I was very ready to hear him ask "Okay, what is this See-ah-batta?"

I mean the first time I came across chourico I pronounced it exactly as I saw it, "Chor ee ko." The staff got a good laugh out of it.

The other day I had a guest order “hand breeded chicken tenders” I literally looked up and just said alright and continued with the order 😅

Siracha is American sauce to imitate Vietnamese hot sauce. It’s American or Vietnamese never heard anyone call it Thai. The guy who owns the brand is literally Vietnamese American. He is also a billionaire now. David Tran is his name! You’re welcome!

I know this is meant to be funny, but no one knows everything. We shouldn’t discourage anyone from asking questions about things they don’t know for fear of being ridiculed. As a former service industry worker, I have no problem answering the most mundane question as long as the person is polite about asking.

My favorite is when people mispronounce "penne". "Uh, can I get the five cheese peen?" 😂

He's a little confused but he's got the spirit.

It is a teaching opportunity. Someone is trying to gain knowledge and expand their food experiences. Enlighten with compassion, not ridicule. There are enough real a$$holes out there to spare. Also, a lot of the food trends have foreign names not easy to pronounce for those just exploring new things. I love your videos and understand your frustration, but also see myself as a customer trying to learn and being ridiculed.❤❤

There’s an old Jacques Pépin show where he introduces the grain Quinoa and mispronounced it. I would guess that wouldn’t have been so uncommon at the time since it wasn’t widely used.

I might be incorrect on this, but isn't sriracha made by a Vietnamese man? The reason why it has the name is because it uses Thai chilies. Or at the very least, it originally used thai chilies until he moved to the US.

The curse of people who read a lot but don't talk much is that they develop an enormous vocabulary of words which they recognize only by sight but don't really know how to pronounce. There was a time when I used to pronounce Worcestershire with all four syllables, and called hors d'ouvres "whore's doovers."
