Today I wanted to take a look at the RV Modifications we have done and see which ones we still have and which ones we removed. I was very thankful that most of these modifications have been great for RVing. Rv Modifications and upgrades can help customize the Rv for exactly what fits you. These have definitely helped us enjoy the RV more. What is an RV Modification you have done that you have loved?

Hey there, We definitely use DVD's still. We do not have Starlink, so we find ourselves in the boonies and the ability to put in a movie is awesome. Love your videos, keep them coming!

To help insulate my windows I basically made a reflect-x sandwich. I glued reflect-x on both sides of a sheet of corrugated plastic that was cut to fit snugly in each of my windows. So, when it is hot or cold outside these panels just fit into the metal frame of all my windows and I pull the shade over them. When not using them they simply set on the floor under the window they go to or they slide behind a door that is always open.

We keep a DVD player and a few DVD’s in our rig “ just in case”. Maybe boondocking, no cell or WiFi service.( We don’t have Starlink). You may be stuck inside with heavy rain, or not feeling well, so we have it .

Good modifications. Thank you.

We still have a dvd player on board, actually sometimes 2 of them as we have one just for watching movies outside with the projector on occasion. We also have a media library on hard drives thru a raspberry pie, this enables us to have a few hundred of our favorite movies or TV shows in a very small space(I have them stuck on the wall behind the TV with velcro).

Yes, I use my DVD a lot in the bedroom. We camp a lot in the Forest with no cell or tree free skys. The wife reads and I watch a little video.

We have not used our microwave for about 4 years and only set the clock on it. We have talked about getting rid of it both in the RV and in the house. Great idea for use of that space.

New subscriber with two suggestions:

1. Consider a marine quality (explosion proof) engine compartment blower for the electrical compartment. Wire it to a thermostat that starts it at a certain temperature and also add a thermal cut-off in case of fire.

2. Instead of DVDs, get a small tablet like the Amazon Fire and a streaming service that allows you to download movies and music. Load your entertainment into the tablet. Use the Screen Mirroring function between the tablet and the TV to pipe it to your TVs. It can also be used with your stereo or headphones via Bluetooth. This will enable you to have the equivalent of streaming even when there is no internet access.

Your wife is so lucky. Im drooling. I end up doing most of the maintenance in our home. I hope your wife appreciates you. But I like the glass doors and she likes the shower curtains... so she is the perfect wife.
Where were all of you handy men types on these comments when I was young???? Ill catch you later at home depot by the Makita cordless tools!

We buy DVDs/Blu-rays, convert them to video files, and pick what we want to watch from the TV. Works without service but requires technical knowhow. Kodi displays the videos with a streaming-like interface.

Nice to see a well worn Bible on the nightstand

I'm super excited for the new inverter ACs. I can't wait for models compatible with ducted systems and wall thermostats to come out. I like my "smart" RV thermostat and with how the floorplan is on my model the bedroom wouldn't cool very well without the ducts to dump cool air into there. But I've had an inverter mini-split back home for years and I love it, so I can't wait for the technology to finally make it to RVs.

No microwave?!? Where the heck do you store bread and hamburger rolls? 😂

Mod 23, we use a Micca h.265 player, converted and shrank all our DVD's and BluRay's to files and put all of them on a portal hard drive, entire library of stuff offline and portable, frees up bandwidth, or works where internet is slow, intermittent, or absent. Took a while to convert them all but we didn't lose all our great disc movies, just the space they took up.

I’ve done the command hooks with wire shelf. One of my favourite mods.

Modification 1 has a hidden benefit, if a thief is snooping around your rv looking for a hidden key they might end up opening that, get grossed out and leave lol

I’m not sure what type of metal those windowsills are made out of but I’d guess aluminum. So you may have to glue a flat magnet to the windowsill and then one to the reflect-X. ✌🏽

Great video. Yes, we have a blue-ray/DVD player and we use it. Our biggest mod was adding 600 watts of solar w/ 3-100 amp lithium batteries, using all Victron components. Also, adding 2-5" square PVC attached to the under belly of the RV for our sewer hoses. Adding the Valterra gate valve to the end of the Black/Gray pipe for dumping tanks definite plus. Keep the videos coming.

Thanks for your time in creating the content! It's definitely food for thought. For Mod #10, I mounted the shade so that it has to come up instead of being pulled down. I leave it down about 2 inches from the top so that I can see who is at the door, without them staring at my boxer shorts if the curtain had to come up from the bottom... I recently changed the light switches to "lighted" versions, so that I don't inadvertently leave the front cap lights or the bright side lights on at night, the glowing light is quite the reminder.

Great list Jared. We removed our glass shower doors too; they rails we a real pita to clean and was also surprised by the 85 lbs we shed getting rid of them. Shower curtain is much easier to deal with.
